Comments: I was treated very well for the most part during my stay, especially by the bariatric program coordinater, Sarah Jeaanes. Most of my care was very good. There was one bad egg that I will not name, but since I only had problems when she was around, I have come to the conclusion that she was to blame. It took 1 1/2 hours to receive my first dose of pain medication after I asked for it and by the time I received it, I was hurting so bad that it made me nausious and I had to get phenigrin, too. The same person discharged me, almost two hours after my doc said it was okay to leave. Then it was another 1 1/4 before a wheelchair showed up, brought by the nurses's aide becuase she didn't see one ACROSS THE HALL!!! Needless to same my 6:30 AM pain shot had worn off, so I had a miserable ride home (about 45 minutes). But, all is well that ends well. I hope!

How Selected: This is the hospital that my insurance is at, and my Dr is there

Comments: For the most part it was a good experience. Only one time did I have to wait for pain med. The bariatric nurse visted and all the departments that I had contact with came to see that service was satisfactorily.

Comments: Terrible care. The "nursing" staff was a joke. Waited hours after requesting pain meds or ice chips. They acted as if they were doing you a favor. I believe they are prejudiced towards obese people and WLS. Would never goback there or recommend the hospital for anyone. I will go to Charlotte if I have need for a hospital.

How Selected: Hospital is in my hometown and its where Dr. Bo does his surgery
Competitors: Better, much better than the other 2 I've been to in Charlotte. The staff is more caring, the rooms cleaner. Privacy much much better.
Comments: I've never been in another hospital where the doctors, nurses, aids, maintenance workers, etc were so kind, professional and attentive.

Competitors: Comparible.
Comments: My surgical team was wonderful. The nurse is also a post op WLS patient. The nurses up on the CVTele unit left something to be desired. One nurse in particular had the nastiest attitude and did not listen to what I was telling her. She just continued on like I was a child and would not stop when I told her she was hurting me while replacing my IV. I will be writing to the head of the hospital.

Comments: the out paitent part of the hospital that i went to before the sugery was real nice and everyone was great then i went to sugery and of course i dont remember a lot about this but i did have to wait alittle while on the dr and everyone in there were supper nice then there was the recovery room and they could not have been any better to me than they were in there but then i go to my room and things changed the care i got there was not real good they said i would be on the heart wing so you would get better care well i sure am glad they didnt put me on the regular floor because i might as well have left surgery and went home haha i think they could do a lot better with there patients that have this surgery they made me feel like they looked down on me for having this type of surgery they were not very friendley i sure was glad my mon stayed with me i dont know what i would have done without her i had to ask for my pain medicine several times before they brought it i asked for the wet swabs to wipe out my mouth because it was so dry and they didnt know what they were my mom had to tell them i hate to write all this bad stuff but people need to know the truth i also think a lot depends on the nurses you happened to get there are good and bad ones in all hospitals i realy think piedmont medical center needs to improve a lot in the way they take care of these paitents

How Selected: My original surgery was at Chester County hospital, but due to politics going on at the hospital my surgeons pulled out of there before my surgery date. So my surgery was at Peidmont, which I am glad cause I got excellent care.
Competitors: Everyone was real personable, friendly, cheerful. Not just there to do their job.
Comments: Peidmont was an excellent room. Everything I wanted I received and received right then. The staff was excellent and my room was very new, clean which made my stay enjoyable for the reason I was there.

Comments: Overall, my experience was a great one. The only problem I had was I wasn't cleaned very well after and accident and my thighs became extremely chaffed. Some of the nurseing staff were not the friendliest or most helpful, but most of the staff was wonderful!
