The hospital was good, some of the nurses were very helpful and made you feel comfortable. There was others that didn't make my experience so great but you cant win them all I suppose. |

Better! I had my tummy tuck at Riverside and I passed out and knock my tooth out of my mouth and the hospital had to pay for it. They were careless with me. |

I will say out of all the hosptial stays I have had, this hospital operated in total excellence. The services were great from registration through surgery and discharge. Nursing staff and doctors, great, I give it a five star rating. |

I went to the hospital today to have my blood work and other pre op stuff done! I was so impressed with the staff. They were some of the most professional hospital staff that I have come across in some time. The appearance of all staff and the clean hospital was a statement in itself. They have all the checks and cross checks in order to assure that most mistakes are eliminated. I will come back and update..after my stay! |

I had a very good experience with Sentara Careplex. They knew exactly what they were doing. The nurses were great and friendly. The only catch was I just couldn't eat the hospital food. Too bad! |

The hospital was understaffed, or that is how it appeared. Simple requests were either ignored or had to be made many times before anyone responded. I was glad my husband stayed with me during the night. Requests for ice chips were ignored most of the time, sometimes hours later someone would come by and ask if I needed anything - then never return. My IVs were allowed to go dry on several occasions, then blood would back up into the tubing. Usually there was no problem taking care of this when the IV bag was changed. On one occasion, the night nurse, using saline to clean the tubing, tried to hurry the process and shot saline directly into the vein. I screamed and began to cry - imagine, salt directly into your vein. Didn't seem to bother the nurse. |

Compared to the other hospitals in the area, this one has lots of room for improvement. |

This hospital, though new, modern, and closely resembles an airport, needs serious improvements. It's staff leaves much to be desired. Most every body has a bad attitude, are non responsive when you need immediate attention, and don't acknowledge small requests very well. This hospital has received poor reviews from everyone that I know of that has had to use it. The hospital recently repaced a much smaller hospital, and they had to make quick arrangements for staffing, which resulted in poor decisions. If this hospital was only an option, I would have chosen a different one in the area in a heart beat. |

I liked the rooms, the surgical group, and Susie (the Bariatric director) is AWESOME!! However, I had a CNA that was very careless. She drained my stomach tube and spilled it all over me and my linens right after I got out of the shower which really irritated me because I wasn't feeling well. Everytime I asked for something she never brought it and she avoided me after I was really upset over the spill. They are also a little to pushy on getting you out of the hospital. The deadline was 11am, and they were pushing me out of my room at 7:30am. |

I'm new to the area, and this is my first hospitalization since a tonsillectomy at age 3. I have no basis to compare. |

Despite the other horror stories about 1 bad nurse, I had no major complaints, but 2 minor ones. 1) My IV ran out at shift change, so it took a while to silence the alarm and change; 2) I was flat on my back waiting for 1/2 hour for the radiologist to do an upper GI, and that was extremely uncomfortable.
I'll give thumbs ups to the nurses and the radiology techs, however. |

The rooms are large, private, and spacious. Plenty of room for visitors and even for a family member to stay the night. I was very pleased with this hospital. |

Always remember: "There is always one." I had one nurse that was not accomodating. Otherwise, an absolutely perfect hospital stay. Rooms were very nice. Son (14 yo) stayed with me entire time. |

Compared to the other hospitals I have stayed in this one was the best. The cleanest, nicest, private room, and great layout. |

Excellent. I didn't have any problems per se. Hubby felt that there were some slow downs in things but for the most part it was great. Hubby stayed with me every night so there wasn't a whole lot the nursing staff had to get for me or help me with because he did most of it. They were good about meds and stuff. The only real problem I had was the last night I was giving my pain meds and then was woken up every hour for blood sticks or glucose tests, etc. and didn't get much sleep. Otherwise GREAT!!!! |

I had been a patient at Riverside previously this year. This hospital is better in some ways and worse in others. I believe each hospital has its strenghths and weaknesses. |

Overall everything was good. Some nurses are definately better than others. Some have the i dont care attitude but there were several that really showed they caried about you. I only had one really bad nurse who i had to ask 3 times for pain medication and it took a total of 3 1/2 hrs and repeated asking to receive it. But this only happened with one nurse. She was nice and very talkative but faster to run her mouth then to get you anything or help you. I will say that she was on the day shift, but i will not disclose names.
Overall taking everything into consideration I though my stay was good. They were very accomodating as far as my husband staying with me and MOST of the nurses were awsome.( Remember nothing is perfect everywhere, theres always gonna be one or two in the bunch).
I would recomment this hospital Overall as I felt safe and carried for.
I appreciate everyones hard work and help in my speedy recovery.
