This hospital was not to the standards I would compare with most other hospitals. I t seemed to be a little under the radar. |
| Comments: |
the nurses staff did not follow through properly on the after care and when it was brought to the head nurses attention she was very apologetic. |

| It was the hospital that my surgeon used. My main problem is that the hospital was dirty, they did not get me up to walk enough or do deep breathing, and the nurses fought about taking care of patients right in front of you. The Day Surgery people were very kind though, it is mainly the floor nurses when you get to a room. |

It is far inferior to any hospital I have ever been to. Very outdates and air conditioning goes out in main OR when it rains. |

This was my first in-patient surgery so for the most part it was average. |
| Comments: |
The majority of the nurses were nice but not very knowledgable. One nurse messed up my paperwork preventing me from getting the medicine that I needed. If you get a nurse by the name of Felicia ask for a new one. She was rude and if you do not have large veins will have to stick you several times. She checked on me maybe two times during her shift. |

| Mesquite Community was in network w/my insurance and is one of the hospitals that Dr Barker performs at. |

Terrible, the day surgery staff and recovery were wonderful, very nice and polite and explained everything. Nice to my husband as well. I had to be put on the 2nd floor because day surgery was closing. The staff on the 2nd floor was horrible. They did not do what Dr Barker asked them to do, they were VERY rude to my husband and to me. They acted as if I was a bother instead of a patient. Took forever to answer when you called, if they answered at all. I finally walked to the nurses station and demanded that someone come take my IV out because I was going home. I had done everthing I was supposed to do to be able to be released. |
| Comments: |
I will never go back to this hospital and would not refer anyone unless I was 100% sure that I would only be dealing w/the day surgery department. |

| Comments: |
I was impressed with the care from the nursing staff and especially since they had gone through a Bariatric sensitivity training course. I had been there before and the difference was wonderful! They were very attentive regarding my specific surgery and the needs I had. They were very helpful in making sure I had everything I needed. They made me walk, (per my doctor's instructions) which was difficult at first, but got better. The dietician was helpful in telling me about what i will be able to eat, and suggested things to make my tranistion into my new lifestyle easier. A nurse came around and asked me how my stay was, (she didn't work on my floor). That made me think they really care how i am doing. They also offered a support group meeting every month. |

I felt like the day staff of nurses, etc. was very good. Especially April a day nurse I had..she is great. Also, Blake..he is very kind and attentive. Most of the night staff is very slow and not as friendly, except for a few. One nurse I had named JoAnn is a very caring person. I heard bad things about a nurse named Benjamin (last name) so I told all that I didn't want her to be assigned to me ever. |

I was satisfied with everything except there was a mess up on my surgery time. I was told over and over my surgery time was 12 noon when actually it was a 9:30 am. So there was a rush to prepare me for surgery. |

I used hospital because of my surgeon. For me, it was inconvient since it is a 45 minute ride from my home. |

They gave me another patients pre surgery meds. They lost paperwork and my surgeon could not take out gall bladder during surgery as a result. The x-ray staff insulted me and was forced to apologize. They told my family I would be coming back to a room a wait there and then moved me to ICU and brought another patient into that room. My family didnt know where I was for over 3 hours. They were very upset. |

The ICU facility and staff are fantastic and probably rate among the best. When you get moved out of ICU and onto the regular floors the care gets really bad. Also the rooms are really small and cramped. |

| It was the only hospital where my surgeon practices. But, he got on to the staff if they did not comply with his directives. They often did not. |
| Competitors: |
Well, while waiting to go into surgery ( in the hallway of the surgical suite) they went to put in the IV and found the nurse forgot to put it in and I had to ask - just before I went under - to have them put on the foot pumps. My last thoughts before going under - they are going to kill me. Once I was back in my room, for the most part they ignored me except to get vitals and dispense pain killers. Example: On day 2 I needed help to the bathroom. After buzzing twice I waited 45 minutes and NO ONE came so I got up and proceeded to poop all over myself trying to get to the bathroom. I buzzed again and waited 30 more minutes before a male orderly heard me yelling for help. It was not his job, but he cleaned me and my bed up and got me comfortable. Contrast this to my c-section at Presbyterian Plano in Plano TX about 10 months earlier and the service at that hospital was excellent. |
| Comments: |
I would not go here on a bet. I worked so hard to get out of there and home because I really believed they did not care about me. But then, the nurse who did my pre-op warned me that the floor I was on had lazy non-caring nurses. She was right. |
