Comments: The hospital seemed fine. Everything was clean and well run. Nursing was adaquate. Parking sucks! On the day of my surgery, we parked over 1/4 mile away in the snow.

How Selected: Actually, there was not much of a choice. However, I had no complaints the staff was and hope they continue to be as effiecient as they were during my stay.
Competitors: I cant compare because thankfully my experiences in hospitals have all been great.
Comments: The hospital is just a location, the nurses, doctors and the rest of the staff are who create the atmosphere, which was very welcoming.

How Selected: It's only 2 blocks from my house. Seemed like the logical choice, and since my doc just started doing surgery there, it was a go!
Competitors: I hated this hospital. The nursing staff were great! But, they're equipment is so old, that the machine to do my leak-test was broken beyond repair. Never had my leak-test done!
Comments: If you have the option, please go to another hospital. I went to the ER 6 days after the surgery, and the blood pressure machine was broken...guess the nurses don't know how to do that manually anymore. Also, the doc was a real idiot...chewing gum the whole time examining me. I actually left the hospital in more pain than I went in with!

How Selected: This is were Dr.Ferzli does surgery and I felt comfortable with the Dr. so was welling to use this hospital
Competitors: It was not as clean as I felt it should have been and I feel the paients were of lower income so thats why there is a lot of waiting and even standing in hallways to have surgery. I have been to a few of the other hopitals listed in NY and all would rate better then victory.
Comments: nurse's and aide's could have been more helpful and friendlier they all complained about being busy and short staffed so it took some time for a nurse or aide to respond to a call for pain medience or any thing else.

How Selected: My bestfriend and I decided to go to Victory Memorial because its in Brooklyn and the staff seemed very aware of the procedure when we called for our inital consultation. Right away we knew that they would treat us like family. Plus, the waiting list wasn't as long as other hospitals. We were able to see a doctor right away.
Competitors: This is by far one of the cleaniest hospitals in Brooklyn!

How Selected: surgeon affiliated there and close to home
Competitors: Staff wise... Victory Memorial has great staff, for the ones that I have come into contact with. They need a major renovation, the hospital is just not up-to-date. I cant even begin to say what is desperately needed. This hospital needs major funding for a complete overhaul. Nothing seems to be updated. Even the nurse's office is in need to upgrading. I will not even mention the bathrooms or the one elevator we used.
Comments: The staff was so professional, friendly, people orientated. At least the ones I came across. The cafeteria was clean, but where's the food? The had 2 little stations, with stuff that they think is food. For $7- you can have a dinner there. LMAO... That is such a joke. I rather eat bread and water. Everything was minimal, and I have to say that was the worst cafeteria I have ever seen. I think prisioners in jails are served better food. But thats just my opinion.
