Alan C. Geiss, MD, FACS, has been Director of the Laparoscopic Center at
the Center for Surgical Specialties at North Shore University Hospital
in Syosset, New York, since 1996. For the past three years, he has also
served as Director of the Laparoscopic Skills Development Course at
North Shore LIJ Health System / Yale University.

The author of numerous lectures and scientific articles on laparoscopic
procedures such as hernia repair and bariatric surgery, Dr. Geiss is an
11-time recipient of the Physician?s Recognition Award from the American
Medical Association. He was also named one of ?The Best Doctors In
New York? by New York Magazine in 2000 and 2001. 

After pursuing his undergraduate degree at Alfred University in New York,
Dr. Geiss earned his MD at the Chicago Medical School. For his
post-graduate training, he completed a surgical internship at the
Albert Einstein Medical Center in New York followed by a three-year
surgical residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
