Dr. DeWitt has an awesome bedside manner. He really cares about his patient and takes the time to actually sit and listen. He always gives you a chance to ask questions and then actually answers your questions. His office staff is excellent also. Posted on 09/17/2008 |

What can I say about Dr. D? Well, he actually has a sense of humor, he's great at what he does, and he's the first doctor/surgeon that I've EVER been around that totally made me feel comfortable! He actually cares about what you have to say and what your concerns are. I'm not sure when he sleeps!! He makes himself available 24-7!! For after hours calls, when you leave a message with the receptionist, a nurse doesn't call you back, he does!! That is AWESOME, in my book!
His staff are all great too! Lori is always great and makes sure that she works her hardest to get your insurance company to approve your surgery and, on top of that, she's VERY supportive!! I LOVE his nurses. They are always very sweet to me and laugh at all my bad jokes!!
Before I end this review, I DEFINITELY... [Click here for more] couldn't leave off Mrs. Stefanie Dutton. Although she is not on Dr. D's staff, she made my stay at the hospital and preparations for surgery very pleasureable!! It also helped that she had gone through WLS herself and could provide personal experience on what to expect pre and post op. She was WONDERFUL and is an inspiration to those who have had or are going to have surgery.
I think that this is the best decision I've ever made and I couldn't chose a better group of people to have interacted with!! Thanks for everything Dr. D and staff AND Stefanie! You guys have given me a second chance at life and I will be FOREVER grateful for that!

PS: Keep in mind that, being such a great surgeon, Dr. D has A LOT of patients, so, please don't get irritated about the times you have to wait for him! If you understand everything he does (WLS AND general surgery), you would understand the wait. The wait is normally about 30 minutes, but I normally bring my Nintendo DS and play it until I'm called and that makes the time go by pretty fast.

Dr. DeWitt is a very professional doctor who shows concern for his patients. He is the person you want to have that knows the "details in doctor terms" but can explain them in terms for you to understand. His staff does a great job. Each time you call they always seem like they care. Beleive me that is a plus! I have been in the medical field and no one likes to be treated unkind.
Dr. DeWitt holds seminars for those who are insterested in gastric bypass or lap bands and I would recommend that you attend a class before you totally comitt to making the journey.
***With the help of Dr. DeWitt and My Heavenly Father above I have overcome most of my obesity and am leading a healthy, more productive life. Thank goodness for the knowledge that Dr. DeWitt has and the goodness of his heart... [Click here for more] to take me as a patient. Dr. DeWitt could see I had potential to become a better person both physically and mentally.

The care I received from Dr Dewitt's staff at Carraway was second to none. His office staff as well as the hospital nursing staff were very caring during my pre-surgery visits, during my hospital stay, and on my visits since surgery. My first impression of dr dewitt was a very pleasant experience and my impression hasn't changed. His staff is very knowledble and very polite and friendly. Dr dewitt is very concerned about his patients that they are doing what they need to do. They give you a list to follow and they also go over it with you. You then take a test to make sure that you understand what to do. Dr dewitt was very straigth forward about some of the risk. I would give him an overall rate of excellent. I attended a seminar of Dr Dewitts I was very impressed with his over all mentality and down to earth personality. Then I meet him at the office appointment and to my surprise he sit down with me and answered all my questions (i thought he would run in and out WRONG). I loved Dr DeWitt immediately! I instantly felt completely comfortable and confident with him! I was sent to Dr DeWitt because I have a very large hernia that no physician in my home town could correct. He examined me and studied my CTs and put me at ease. He told me that he felt comfortable with performing surgery on me and his abailities to correct my problem. His office staff is awesome. Lori is super and really works with you to get approved. I haven't found anything that I don't like about Dr DeWitt! He doesn't judge you for being the size that you are. He just wants to give you a quality life. I haven't had my surgery yet, but the before care has been very structured and helps to prepare you for life changes. I am having a hernia repair at the same time as the bypass and he... [Click here for more] explained all risks to me. I give Dr DeWitt a 10 so far!!! I think that his surgical competence and his bedside manner are a perfect combination. I like the fact that he is a great surgeon with great compassion!
