my surgeon is the best surgein in the world.I owe him the next 20 years of my life that i would never have had.He is very standoffish at first but once you get to know him he is a really good guy.i cant wait to see him next month.
One thing i really want to say is i really didnt feel as much pain as i thought I would .I really thought i would cause i was in surgery for 5 1/2 hrs due to a enlarged liver. He really knows his stuff and he is awesome!!! Posted on 06/24/2008 |

the first day I met my surgeon I thought he was so very soft spoken, but genuinely interested in me and my weight issues. I have begun to think of him as my savior over the pas 5 months since my surgery. If I hadn't done the foot work to find him I would still be miserable, ill and unhappy. The office staff has always been right on top of everything I need and any questions I might have. there is nothing that I can complain about with any of them. Dr, Hajduczek will give you the best care possible as will his staff and the hospital Chapman Medical. the after care has been the best you could ever ask for and that was real important to me. They have a facility in Orange that has meetings once a week and you get a lot of helpful information from it. I was made quite aware of... [Click here for more] any risks or problems that could result from my surgery, but also all the positive benefits. And the material books and education has been a most helpful tool in the process. I would rate him as one of the best of the best. I feel that all aspects of a phycians duties including bedside manner are very important for patients to feel at ease.

He's a very nice and thorough Surgeon. His staff is pleasent when you're there. Returning phone calls is a little slow, but not if it's an emergency. He's very straight forward regarding surgical risks. Aftercare is fine, can always make an appt. to see dietician, and a large, well explained manual is great for reference after surgery. He has a support group at the hospital, but I live too far away to take part in it. Overall, I'd rate him high. I feel his surgical competence is superior. Posted on 01/08/2007 |

I love Dr Hajduczek! Or Dr H as I call him.
He is very sweet, caring and understanding.
He had no problem with me asking him a million questions or my kids questions! His staff is friendly and very supportive. Both Dr H. and his staff push the aftercare and the support teams/websites. If I had to rate Dr H I would give him a 9 (per Dr. Hajduczek, there is always room for improvement!)
I would have to say that his surgical competence was better than his bedside manner. He was nice and sweet and all but his surgical competence was much better!! Posted on 08/29/2006 |

I met Dr. Hajudczek through Coastal Center for Obesity in San Pedro, CA. He was a nice guy and seemed very knowledgable. He was very quiet or should I say soft spoken. I felt very comfortable with him. The staff was always very nice. I didnt have much of a wait when I went there for an appt. I have to say Dr. H did an amazing job on my surgery...he repaired adhesions I had from my prior c-section and I didnt even require a drain post Op. I felt good enough not to take the morphine the day after surgery. I went home 2 days post op. He was definitely up front about the risks and lifestyle changes involved with the surgery. He didnt make me feel bad about my weight and put me at ease, I never felt rushed when speaking to him. I definitely feel surgical competence and a good bedside manner... [Click here for more] are important and he had both. I would recommend Dr. Hajduczek for anyone researching WLS.

My first impression was a good one...he seemed upfront and very interested in me as a person...It hasn't changed...The staff was very friendly and made me feel comfortable and accepted...There wasn't anything that I didn't like...Future patients should know to trust him...He is a tool to making you healthier and he shows that when he talks to you...He emphasized aftercare very much...As did his staff...Aftercare is very important...He has a very good aftercare program...But its up to me to do all the right things...He informed me of risks with this surgery...But as I look at it ...There are risks with me being obese...On a scale of one to ten I would rate him a nine...Only because I don't feel anyone is a ten...I think surgical competence is better... He came across as a quiet man, but over the past month I've discovered that he's just shy! He is absolutely great. Top notch. I woke from my surgery thinking they called it off because I had such a minor amount of pain. I've had abdominal surgery before, and so I attribute this great response to Dr. Hajduczek's surgical skills. Their staff is competent and knowledgable. I thought some of the handouts were a bit confusing and needed updating, but that's just because I'm overorganized! Their aftercare program is the best. They really do everything they can to help you succeed. Overall, I would give him a 10 out of 10. Please e-mail me with any questions!

I liked Dr. Hajduczek as soon as I met him. He is very soft spoken and he listens to what you have to say and
answers all questions.
The office is very busy and sometimes messages to not get to the doctor or nurse if you need to talk to one of them.
There is an aftercare program at Chapman Hospital but Dr. Hajduczek never mentioned it after my initial visit. At one time there was a dietician in the office and I found that helpful but they no longer have a dietician at the office. It is too far for me to go to every week or month but I do wish I could attend. I realy think the doctor should be more helpful with patients regarding what to do or not to do after surgery. You do get the feeling you are in it by yourself.
We talked about the risk of surgery at my pre op visit... [Click here for more] but not at any length.
I think surgical competence is more important than anything else but luckily Dr. H. has a good bedside manner as well.

I had my seminar with him and liked him from the beginning I have alot of trust in him and think I made the right choice of using him for my surgery.
He is an awesome man and I was not concerned about anything going wrong during my surgery because I had complete faith in him.
I would recommend him to anyone considering this surgery.
I think he also was great before surgery, during recovery and also at my follow-up appointments. Posted on 02/14/2004 |

Dr. Hajduczek has a wonderful bedside manner and has been very kind throughout pre and post-op WLS. Dr. Oliak was the assistant surgeon, and all went well.
I am very confident that I chose a great center to go to for surgery - the Coastal Center for Obesity at Chapman Medical Center. While very busy and sometimes hard to get a hold of, all of the staff there have been wonderful - full of information and very supportive, and several of them (including several staff members at the hospital) have gone through WLS themselves.
I was on an all liquid diet (HMR) for the first month and moved onto soft foods after 4 weeks and then solids after 5 weeks. I was told by Dr. Oliak (who took out my drain) that my pouch is very small and that they skipped their standard of the first 5 feet... [Click here for more] of my small intestines (150 cm)(proximal RNY). I am a little worried as I've LOTS of weight to lose (220 lbs as I was 367 lbs pre-surgery) and wonder if I should have pushed for the distal RNY. Dr. Hajduczek assured me that I should be able to succeed with the surgery he performed. It was hard sticking to the liquid fast for the first 4 weeks given that the required HMR shakes that I used to love pre-surgery, were way too sweet for me, and it was way too much of a reminder of my last 2 diet attempts where I lost and regained 125 lbs and 45 lbs repectively.
The Coastal Center for Obesity has a WONDERFUL support group meeting. The people there are just so supportive of each other, and I learn so much from everyone. For those of you in the SOCAL area who might want to check it out, the Coastal Center's support group meets every Monday, from 6 to 7:30 pm, at Western Medical Center, in the Basement, conference rooms 2/3. 801 N. Tustin Avenue, Santa Ana. All are welcomed! We also meet at a local Starbucks afterwards for coffee and chat :)
