My first impression of him was fine. He was softspoken and nice. I brought my 14 yr old daughter with me for support and he went out of his way to make her feel like part of the consult as well. The office staff he has there are very nice, attentive and knowledgable A+ He did a very good job of explaining the benefits/risks of surgery... and I walked out of there with a handful of information to digest. As far as I know, there is a support group at the hospital that meets once a month... aftercare is standard (1wk, 3wks, and continues at appropriate intervals throughout.) He was my first consult. By reading the posts here I was a bit weary meeting him as his bedside manner was a so so... however, I found him to be attentive, soft spoken, thoughough and knowledgeable.... [Click here for more]

Well my first impression of him was dang a reproduction of my Dad. He is very informative, friendly, and outspoken!! Just what I was lookiing for! Just home from surgery (well 2 days home) and Dr. Cooper did a great job and the staff at Enloe just rocked. I got a view of his so called no bedside manner but you know what if he didnt have any I sure and the heck didnt notice. He was just as he has always been, direct and to the point My overall rating for Dr. Coop as the staff called him is A+++ Thank You Dr. Cooper    Posted on 09/24/2005

Great doctor who really cares about his patients and really wants his patients to be successful. Over time we just grew to love and admire him even more. He is definantly on our top 5 doctors list. Very accomodating,Friendly, a NO NON-SENSE office. We can not come up with anything negative to say about this man. Both my son and myself have been lucky enoygh to be his patient and there just is not one thing that we can come up with! Aftercare is very important and we had outstanding aftercare!! he and his staff were always there when needed. very structured in my eyes. He really wants his patients to understand that weight loss surgery is not a cure all but a tool to help you loss the weight and stay healthy. Every surgery has risks and this is a surgery that may... [Click here for more]

I thought Dr Cooper was very informative about the surgery. He addressed all my concern about the surgery. My daughter went with me she was very concerned about the surgery as she works in medical. After Dr cooper finished the appointment and ask for our questions my daughter did not have any to ask as she said he had answered all her questions. The after care Dr Cooper is very quick to emphasize that if you follow all siets in the book that he gives you you will make it good which is very true. Dr Coopers staff is very helpful. I would rate him a 10 in my experince.    Posted on 05/28/2005

Dr. C. Gary Cooper in Chico is the one who did my surgery. I think he is a really great guy. (Really knows his stuff) He was alittle quiet at first, but once you get to know him everything is great. He has an awesome office staff, very helpful. I totally recommend Dr. Cooper to anyone looking for a great physician. He is a fisherman, I enjoy fishing a great deal so I always have to ask him questions about his fishing trips whenever I have my appointments with him. They offer a Bypass Support Group the last Wednesday of every month at Enloe Outpatient Center Class Room C this is the site off of Bruce Road. In Chico, CA. Anyone interested should come, we have a great time.    Posted on 04/28/2005

Dr. Cooper is a VERY competent surgeon. He does not have much of a bedside manner but he really knows his stuff. He worrries over the little things so you don't have to. He does not do much aftercare that I am aware of but then, I didn't need much. Dianne in his office is absolutely wonderful. She will help you thru the whole process. Dr. Cooper was very up front about the risks of surgery. He did, however, make it very clear to me that if I would do exactly what he told me to, I would never be fat again. I have a wonderful figure now and I am a size 2 down from a size 20. I have no hanging skin and I feel great.    Posted on 02/05/2005

At first he was very direct and to the pointI was a little worried, then after a few visits and I got to know him I loved him. He took such great care of me in the hospital. He has been a great support for me. He answeers any questions that I my have honestly. Diane in his office is wonderful. She had my surgery authorized within a month of my surgery and schduled. There wasn't anything that I did not like about Dr. Cooper and his staff. Get to know him, don't judge him from you first consultation. At that point he is getting information and explaining the seriousness of the surgery. He totaly believes that the outcaome of your surgery has to do with how well you take care of your new stomach and listen to your body. I see Dr. Cooper every four months, he nakes sure I am excercising... [Click here for more]

He was a little had to take to right away, but since my surgery we laugh and joke together and I trust him completely. He is very good at what he does. I had no post-op problems with the surgery. He is very good at explaining all the risks and benefits. He tells you exactly what he is going to do so there are no suprises. He is emphatic about taking all you supplements and taking care of yourself. I have check ups every 3 mos. for the first year and I don't know after that. I have a leaky heart valve and he wanted to see all my tests before he would procede with surgery. His surgical competence is best, but if you work at him his bed side manner gets better. The office staff is really wonderful and friendly.    Posted on 11/07/2004

My first meeting with Dr Cooper was wonderful. He was very caring, he explained in complete detail the surgery and the risks associated with bariatric surgery. Since my surgery was over ten years ago, Dr Cooper has done hundreds if not thousands of surgery's. His staff Diane is the most wonderful person. She understands, never treats you unkind. He found a jewel when he hired Diane. I can't say enough about Dr Cooper. His kindness, caring. I will say he doesn't mess around if your not losing weight. If your cheating he can tell, and he calls you on it. He addressed the risks of the surgery stating you would be over night in the trauma unit, and then days on the surgery floor. I honestly can say, if he told me you can or could die, I don't remember that. However, when you've gone... [Click here for more]
