Calvin A. Selwyn, Jr., MD 
has outstanding skills in minimally invasive surgery for obesity. Surgical
weight loss patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery do not require a long
abdominal incision and also experience less postoperative pain, fewer wound
complications such as infection or hernia, and return more quickly to normal
activity. Dr. Selwyn also specializes in minimally invasive gastrointestinal
surgery.

Dr. Selwyn is a graduate of the Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and
Bariatric Surgery in the UC Department of Surgery under the direction of Dr.
Keith Gersin. He has trained extensively in minimally invasive surgery and open
procedures for morbid obesity, as well as upper and lower endoscopy.

Dr. Selwyn received his MD degree from the University of Minnesota School of
Medicine and completed his residency in general surgery at Marshfield
Clinic/St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He also completed a
Microsurgical Training Course in the Department of Plastic Surgery at The Mayo
Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
