I had revision surgery Sept. 2008 with Dr. Carson Liu. His office staff are very nice and get back to you right away. Dr. Liu takes the time to listen, and for me that way key. I had gastric bypass with Dr. Terry Sanderfer in 2002 and suffered severely and thanks to Dr. Liu I am alive.I am going to post my story soon on obesity help. Posted on 11/12/2008 |

Dr. Liu is a wonderful surgeon! My first impression and current impression of Dr. Liu is that he is a very kind and compassionate Dr. that really cares about his patients and what he does. His office staff is great and is always ready to answer to any of my question or needs. There isn't anything that I dislike of Dr. Liu or his staff they are all great people. Future patients should know that going through the bariatric weight loss process with Dr. Liu is one that you will never forget. Dr. Liu and his staff will make sure that you have a complete understanding of the weight loss journey you embark, and are with you every step of the way. I went to my first Dr. appt. with Dr. Liu at UCLA on February 14, 2002 (Valentines Day of all days). I drove just over 3 hours 1 way to my appt. and the office staff was GREAT!!! Dr. Liu was very honest with me and told me how things would be weather or not I wanted to hear them. I myself prefer a Dr. to be straight out with me and NOT sugar coat things. Since this was my first visit to see Dr Liu the only thing I did not like was he was very quiet. I guess I was expecting Dr. Liu to be more talkative. Dr Liu and his staff were very understanding to me and my needs as I had my 2 children with me for my appt. (one whom was in a wheelchair due to an ankle injury). What I feel people should know about Dr. Liu is that he is one of only a couple Dr.s (from what I was told by his cordinators)... Dr. Liu has been doing these new surgeries for 4 years and other Dr.s are now wanting to learn the new procedure that Dr. Liu performs. Dr. Liu could not emphansize enough how important aftercare was and the aftercare that I have been given was good. Dr. Liu let me ask ANY questions I wanted about the surgery and he did address the differant risks that were involved. I spoke more with Kimberly, one of the cordinators, about the risks as well. I think Dr. Liu is VERY competant and I would HIGHLY recommend him to others that are thinking of having the surgery!!! I love Dr. Liu. He's been amazing through my whole process. He gets genuinly excited when I reach mile stones, like when I got under 200lbs for the first time in 10 years or when I finallly wasn't obese anymore!!
His office staff is really great and always nice.
The only negative thing is he's not very helpful with nutritional questions, he really believes each person has to find what works for them.

I think Dr. LIu is awesome. He always takes a lot of time with me and gets excited when I reach goals, like getting under 200lbs for the first time in 10 years! He was thrilled. He's really great.
One thing I do think is that he's not the best when I have questions about diet, he really believes that everyone is different and you have try different foods to see what works with you. Posted on 07/24/2008 |

Dr. Liu was very pleasant at first site. He made me feel comfortable and he seem very knowledgable about the task at hand. My inpression of him hasn't changed at all. He always seemed to have a ginuine care for his patients. You don't feel just like a patient but a friend he's helping to improve their life. His office as a nice calm feel too it. With the reminders to eat healthy by having the fruit on the table and comfortable feeling. Future patients should know that he is going to take care of you. I had no complications at all after my surgery. I think his care is excellent also that of his staff members. My doctor was very kind and caring. I immediately felt comfortable with him and trusted him with my surgery. The office staff was very friendly. I felt very informed and was given alot of literature and information regarding my aftercare.

I found the entire experience of working with Dr. Liu and his staff to be great. From the consult all the way through to the post op visits everyone involved was warm, friendly, informitive and caring...to myself and my family members as well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to others seeking a trustworthy and professional Dr. and team to help with the decision and ultimately the bariatric surgery itself. Good luck! I researched several surgeons and he was the most experienced in Lap Band in my geographical area. I had an easy surgery less than one day hospital stay with little or no post operative discomfort and was back at work the next day. I haven't completed the program yet so my final opinion is not complete, but overall to date I am very happy with his service. Posted on 03/11/2007 |

My first impression of Dr. Liu was that he is very bright and truly cares about his patients. I grew to totally trust him. His office staff is all wonderful. Sometimes they don't return calls so you have to bug them a little. Overall, going to Dr. Liu in Los Angeles, one can feel secure of being in excellent hands. After care is outlined clearly and very simple. Risks of surgery were addressed clearly. All my questions were answered. Madeline and Elaine are superstars!! I love them.
