I met Cynthia a year ago and found her informative and her office was very friendly and welcoming to the obese patient. She shares an office with my personal care physician and even when I am not visiting Dr. Long, Nancy, her front desk assistant, is kind. Dr. Long listened to my thoughts about surgery and offered her insights but allowed the decisions to be mine. She is well organized and has a complete program for her bariatric patients.
My surgery will be August/September. Posted on 04/12/2009 |

For years now I have been contimplating surgery and the Dr. I had visited a couple of times(seminars) was Dr. Greene. He even encouraged me to try the weight loss on my own, Atkins, which I did and I was successful. This time around I visited Dr. Greene again and he said all the same great things there, and it was a full house. I mean about 40 people were in to see the Dr. Then he told me he was going out of network. No problem, we were in open season last December so I could switch. But something told me to check out some other Dr.'s first. And I did. I checked out Dr. Long. We I got to the seminar, there were only 3 other candidates plus me 4. Such a big difference from Dr. Greene. But as Dr. Long spoke I found out that she was very knowledgeable, gave us options, and I didn't feel... [Click here for more] like I was a number, I felt like I was her patient and she wanted the best plan for me. After leaving her seminar I quickly noticed another difference in the Dr.'s style, I felt that Dr. Greene, even though I know he is wonderful, was similar to a Rock Star. People were clapping, he told folks he can perform at least 5-6 ops a day, that to me doesn't feel like a personal care. I felt like we would be a number. Plus with him going out of network hmm...anyway. I am sticking with Dr. Long and her family where I know they value patient care. Good luck everyone.

When I first meet Dr. Long. I knew that I wanted her to be my surgeon. She came across as very personal. However her office staff were not very knowledgeable which made it very difficult and frustrating for me. I had an advantage being a nurse, because her receptionist acted like she was a doctor. When I wanted to speak with Doctor Long she would act as though she was the doctor. After my surgery, I felt like I was alone. Dr.Long did call me two days after my surgery. However when I struggled with food choices and emotional issues. I live 1 1/2 hours from my doctors, which is scary for someone just getting this type of surgery. I did not know anyone who had this and I was pretty much on my own. Thank God, Dr. Long did tell me about this web site. It really helped me when I had... [Click here for more] questions and was not able to talk to her. She is a good surgeon by all means. I did not have any major complications. I have healed very well. Having a good bedside manner and caring for your patient after surgery is what helps the patient from a holistic approach.

I liked Dr. Long from the first time I met her.
My impression has only gotten better.
Ivania is her nurse/receptionist and she is wonderful!
There really isn't anything so far that I don't like about Dr. Long.
She seems to be caring, concerned and willing to take time with you.
She says that aftercare is a lifelong process.
She answered all of my questions willingly and didn't seem to 'dodge' any answers.
Excellent!
So far, both are great! Posted on 08/31/2007 |
