Hi, I had my surgery on Sept.21st 09 and I have to say I am so glad. I am blessed to have had Dr. Fang perform it for me.
My journey starting last Oct.08. After many hoop jumping, tests w/o follow thru and run arounds along with miss comutacations from another so called bariatric competitor,it was such a pleasure to find Dr. Fang and Bridges center. There is a reason it's a hospital of excellence.
Even though I had most tests done at another place,it didn't change Dr. Fang willingness and professionalism to get me on the right track and move foward.
Thank You Dr. Fang & Bridges after all the frogs,I finally found my prince and my way back to good health.

Dr. Fang is a very concerned and kind man, aside from the fact that he is an excellant surgeon. He is very quite, but is very focused on you as an individual and treats you as if you are the one and only patient he has.
I have worked as a professional in the medical field all of my life. I have worked with Docs from both ends of the pendulum and Dr. Fang is the real deal. I am probably his worst nightmare as I have had some problems post op. Dr. Fang has not given up on me and has gone above and beyond in trying to find the source of my problems. On more than one occasion he has called me at home later in the evening to make sure I was doing ok...long after he should have been home relaxing!
When you go to see Dr, Fang, take your list of questions. I promise you he will... [Click here for more] take the time to answer them and not just blow you off. Just remember while you are waiting and impatient, he is going to extend the same courtisy to you when you are in with him. I give him a 10 +

Dr. Fang is very professional, and I'm appreciative to have him as my trusted surgeon for my Realize banding surgery on February 13, 2009. Posted on 01/21/2009 |

I had heard rave reviews about Dr. Fang and felt that he was good at what he does. My impression hasn't changed. The office staff leaves a lot to be desired. The is nothing that I don't like about him. Other patients should know that he is a good surgeon and has a good bedside manner. He is adamant about aftercare. He left no stones unturned when it came to the risks of surgery. I would rate him as a very god surgeon. Both are great. Posted on 12/27/2008 |

I had the lap-band procedure done in April, and had to have my band removed after a massive infection.
I found Dr. Fang's bedside manner to be terrible, and even when I was in the hospital for two weeks, I found him to be curt and uncaring. Not once did he express any sympathy for me, despite the long hospital stay, immense physical and emotional pain, a removal of my band, the resulting kidney problems that very nearly required dialysis, and all of the other complications.
His office staff are beyond terrible. They are extremely slow in returning phone calls when it relates to medical issues, but are quick to call about money owed. I paid off the surgery costs, and now they are harassing me about money for the band removal.
Worst of all, I am in very nearly the same... [Click here for more] place, weight wise, that I was pre-surgery. I cannot afford to try again.
This was just my personal experience; I am making no claims that anyone else will have the same experience.

First Impression: Very professional, no nonsense, very competent. Dry sense of humor.
Office Staff: Helpful, competent.
Future patients: He tells it like it is. What to expect before, during and after surgery.
Emphasizes Aftercare: Very much so.
Structured Aftercare program: Support groups, pre and post surgery. Nutritionist on staff to help pre and post surgery questions.
Risks of Surgery: Very informative both in pre-surgery seminars and pre-surgery office visits. Answered all questions that I could think of.
Overall Rating: A+++ I am very happy with the care and help he has given me. As a side note, my wife needed hernia surgery and was very comfortable having him complete the procedure due to the care I have received from him and his staff.
Which... [Click here for more] is better: Surgical competence and bedside manner were both great.

Briefly, I had WLS done 35 years ago. As it was so long ago, I did not remember which WLS had been performed on me. And I have no insurance for revision surgery. The initial upper GI done by another physician was not revealing.
I was very impressed with Dr. Fang's ability to do his own investigation by doing the endoscopy himself. He was good at helping us understand what he was seeing and what he thought the appropriate plan of action should be. He was good at letting me know what consequences to expect. He struck me as capable and responsive.
When I first saw him, his front desk personnel was having problems giving sufficient attention to those of us who were nervous or didn't know the protocol. The phone was too often left on answering machine. However, the old front office... [Click here for more] staff are gone and the new ones are a definite improvement. The women working with scheduling and insurance and payments are excellent and very good at getting back to you.
I used the bridgesaz.com care program available at St. Lukes Medical Center in Phoenix. They offer a pre and post op program/classes. They are very helpful with telling you what steps you need to take to get your insurance approval, steps you can take to make your surgery and weight loss more successful, and have many resourcesavailable - dietician, several psychologists, a physical rehab speaker, references for surgeons who help you deal with the hanging skin after great weight loss. I found the preparation to be very useful. It hasn't been long enough for me to give an accurate opinion, so more later.
I would rate Dr. Fang as a ten in surgeon choice.
If askd last month, I would have given his office the low rating of four. Since he made the front office staffing changes, that four rating has risen to a nine.
Three cheers for Dr. Fang!!!
