I attended one of Dr. Stewart's siminars in the Fall of 2007. Found it very informative. Had my first appointment with Dr. Stewart in December 2007. He took lots of time to answer all my questions. Helped me choose between the lap band and gastric bypass. I had gastric bypass done on March 12, 2008. The recovery went very smoothly. I can honestly say, I was never in any pain. Sore/achy ... flu like symptoms ... but never in any pain. Stopped taking pain medicine the second day I was home and never needed to take it again. Now 6 months out, I am doing well. Down 105 lbs. My impression of Dr. Stewart was that he is a man who understands obesity and is empathic. Future patients should know that he is a top notch surgeon and that he can do what he says he can do. His DS patients have had remarkable successes. I have total faith in him and his abilities.

At first he seemed a little disinterested in any small talk, but very serious and focused on surgical info.
I guess that is still my impression of him about any joking or small talk,but now I love the intense focus he puts on my surgery and any questions I may have. After all, that is what's important,right?
Now his staff is very friendly and show lots of concern for their patients. Leah is an Angel,I'm sure of it!!
If I have to say something, I guess I wish he would "chat" a little bit, of course that's probably because I'm such a Motor Mouth!
Dr.Stewart seems very concerned about the problems that we overweight people face everyday in our society, he truly seems to care and wants to help.
Dr.Stewart and his staff seem to focus alot on the aftercare you need after... [Click here for more] your surgery. Surgery is just the beginning.
Although I haven't gotten to that point yet, it seems like it is going to be quite structured and fun as well as informative!
Dr. Stewart and Leah went over all the risks that are involved with my surgery, they are very thorough.
I would definetly rate him way up there so far! I feel like God led me to him as my surgeon, and God doesn't make mistakes.
I would definetly rather have a competent surgeon than a happy, joking, and laughing one that didn't know his stuff that well, wouldn't you? And plus, I think the longer I know Dr. Stewart I will probably be saying he has the total package!!

First impression, I thought he knew his stuff seem very shy and low key not really a joker type but really got excited when he talked about WLS. As I got to know him I liked him more he was very good to answer all my hundered ??? and open to discuss and worries or problem. His office and staff are very nice, he has a great plan in place everything worked out to the minute. I am very happy with Dr Stewart He did a great Job called him you with any concerns he or his staff would fix me right up. Dr. Stewart is very nice and very serious about what he does. Some say his bedside manner is lacking, but its just that he doesn't joke around. Not that he discourages it or is disapproving - he just doesn't do it himself. He's all business and concern for you. His staff - they're AMAZING. You do have to do everything they tell you, go to the seminars, do this and that. But if you ever have a question, they're there and if they don't know they'll find someone who does. I had the DS with Dr. Stewart on March 5th, 2008. My first impression of him was that he was very serious about wls and about getting all of the facts about wls to his patients.
I feel that as I have gotten to know him, he not only is a wonderful surgeon but is funny and has a great personality as well.
Most of his office staff is wonderful, and I feel like part of a family every time I have gone there.
What I liked best about him? Can I say his eyes?
He has a great aftercare program and really seems to care about his patients after surgery.
I would recommend Dr. Stewart to anyone, and have to several friends and family members.
I think surgical competence is more important, and although I have heard from others that Dr. S lacks in bedside manner, he has shown... [Click here for more] me a side of him that I really could get to know and love.
