Dr. Stewart is a man who emphatically understands obesity. Future patients should know that he is a top notch surgeon who performs all the various WLS. Additionally, his DS patients have had remarkable successes. I cannot recommend the importance of doing your research before having surgery--"think twice and cut once." I owe Dr. Stewart my life; I am forever indebted to him.
Thank you Dr. Stewart for using your talent to change people's lives. Posted on 10/13/2009 |

In the process of changing surgeons from Dr. Barker to Dr. Stewart.
Nothing negative to say about Dr. Barker, he just did not do the surgery I wanted to do.
Dr. Stewarts office is calmer and more relaxing. Did not feel like a number there at all. Dr. Stewart took his time with me to make sure I understood the risks of surgery, and he explained to me how it would be done. He explained the comments I received from Dr. Barker regarding my pyloric stenosis history and what that would mean during the surgery. He addressed the risks of surgery.
His insurance coordinator, Leah, is awesome. She has quite calmly put up with my panicy self. Think she has figured me out. :)
Do not have information about other issues yet. Will update after my surgery.
Please note that the... [Click here for more] above is strictly my opinions and observations.

Dr. Stewart is quiet, and doesn't say much, but personable and VERY knowledgeable about all the bariatric surgeries, and seems to tend to favor the lap DS.
The office staff is kind and very helpful and supportive.
What I least liked about Dr. Stewart was the fact that he is so quiet and mild mannered, and future patients should be ready to get most of their information from his staff. (He is a surgeon ya know, not a family practitioner.)
Aftercare so far has been fine, and there is a good support group as well.
The risks of surgery were addressed beforehand and several times up to surgery date.
I would rate my experience with Dr. Stewart and his staff as 9 out of ten. (just about exemplary) His bedside manner is not all "Hey, let's be friends and stuff." but at the same... [Click here for more] time he is not rude by any stretch, and his surgical competency is exemplary.

I really liked Dr. Stewart when I met him for my first visit. He was refered to me by a friend who had had DS surgery. After your initial visit with Dr. Stewart you follow up with his Nurse Practioner Pam (who is super nice). Posted on 09/07/2009 |

Dr. Stewart is a quiet man who loves his work.
During the hospital stay, I was at times frustrated because of his straight forward approach. I learned to appreciate his honesty and give him time to tell me what to do. I wished he had been more "hand holding" but that is not his job. I felt he covered well the risks of surgery. I would give high recommendation for him. You can tell how much Dr. Stewart loved surgery when he did rounds on surgery days, he was just happier.
I would not say he has a bad bedside manner, just forward and to the point. As to which is better...in a perfect world the doctors who did surgery on us would also cry with us when it hurts like hell, but give me competence any day. Posted on 07/18/2009 |

Dr. Stewart is very knowledgeable and through, you will know everything you need to know about the different surgeries at the end of your seminar, it was a really long seminar, the longest I have ever been too. During my initial visit with him he was very kind and sociable as well as through (again with that word). Asked me what I wanted as far as surgery, I told him the DS, we then talked about where to have the surgery and decided on Denton Regional, so he could use the DaVinci robot. I am very happy that he will be using this awesome tool. His office staff is courteous and very trained, when I went in for my first & second appointments and they are very good about trying to schedule you especially if you are coming from out of town. I have about an hour drive but it is well... [Click here for more] worth it, especially considering that he is one of the only two surgeons that are performing the D.S. in TX, and people are coming in from all over the state. He seems to consider you a patient for life and gives great emphasis on before and after care and groups. He is very upfront with you about the risks of surgery, but that being said he has an excellent record of successful surgeries. He is the first surgeon that I really felt was right, and has made my decision to go for the surgery very simple. I think he is the right man for the job and has the skills and training to make this a reality for me.

Dr. Daryl Stewart is a superior surgeon who really seems to care about his patients well being. He is very quiet which doesn't exactly match my personality, but this is the same way with my PCP. I chose a SMART, No-Nonsense surgeon for his skills.
The office staff has been most helpful-if a little busy and scattered at times.
Dr Stewart strictly enforces aftercare and is concerned about my success and has a structured aftercare program as well as having office staff being available at all times for questions.
And I would have to say his surgical competence is the BEST and his bedside manner is pleasant.
I would not hesitate to recommend this surgeon to anyone! Posted on 05/06/2009 |

I first met Dr. Stewart at his informational seminar. He impressed me because, he wanted to make sure I had information on ALL of my choices for WLS so I could make the best decision for ME. I have since had my one on one consult and he made sure all my questions were answered and has specific structured guidelines. Being a nurse, I asked if I could get out of the hospital "early" (3 night stay) but he reinforced there is a reason that he does things a certain way and to do it differently would not be wise. Guess that is why he is the doctor! I have complete faith in Dr. Stewart and the procedure I have chosen = DS.

Dr. Stewart did my DS Jan 7, 2009. He and his staff are wonderful people. This was my 3rd WLS, and he was very supportive during the whole process. My surgery took longer than normal, but I came through wonderfully. I would recommend Dr. Stewart to anyone looking for WLS. Posted on 01/26/2009 |
