Dr. Chengelis is the BEST. He really cares about his patients and wants us all to get healthy and live longer.
I can't think of anything negative about him - he was wonderful. He has a great follow-up program as well.
His information meeting gave me more than I ever expected - I learend a lot.

This is my second doctor/hospital but should have been my first. (MY OPINION) I'm praying for the Dr. and nurse that I will no longer have to deal with and where I was terrribly disappointed. But I'm so very glad that God saw my pain and distress and I'm so thankful for Beaumont's Bariatric Center of Execellence, it's where I should have been all along. The Weight Control Center (WCC) staff, Karen, Kim, Ryan, Ryan, Chris, Shirley, Dr. Chengelis and Dr. Zelisin and Laura all are unbelieveable. As nervous and disappointed as I have been they have made me more comfortable than I ever thought I could be.
They all were more informative than I could have ever imagined, addressed each of my concerns with courtesy as if I were their only patient. I'm looking forward to the next steps to... I'm trying not to cry as this has been emotional journey as I'm sure it has been for most of you, but after getting side tracked it has been twice as difficult.
I met with the Dr. again and I am just as comfortable as the first day I met him. Now I'm ready for my life changing surgery, as I am prepared to use the tool that I have chosen.

Dr Chengelis did my RNY May 12th and I was home May 13th I dont think I can say anymorernabout his competence if you are thinking of surgery he's your surgon. He is a caring surgeon and will take his time to give you all the Info that you ask for Posted on 06/10/2009 |

I knew the moment I saw him that he was the surgeon for me! (call it intuition) Staff is great! I highly recommend him for bypass surgery. I also had a hiatial hernia that he repaired before he started my bypass. my surgery date was 1-13-09. I was completely satisfied with the whole surgical process. Posted on 01/25/2009 |

My first impression of the Staff @ Beaumont is the same as it is now. I love each and every nurse, and nitritionist. Vampira as I have named her, is the nurse that takes my blood when I go in for check ups, is also great. Dr. Chengelis, my surgeon is awesome. He fully explained everything to me and was and has been right there when I needed him. He really educated me fully for what I needed to do before and after. Even though I fully met the criteria for the surgery, he refused to do it while I was still a smoker. This Dr. clearly is not out for getting his surgery numbers up. First. let me say that the way WLS is set up at Beaumont Healthcare is second to none. They take a whole approach and are very collabrative with each other. I think that Dr. Chengelis is funny and very smart. I mean he really is. My impression of him has not changed over time. His office, they know their stuff and can pretty much answer any question or point you in the right direction. Future patients should know he is going to give it to you "straight...with no chaser". If you need a doctor to "poo..poo" you he is not the person. You know how we as heavy people can get offended easily. ;o) Dr. Chengelis is part of the Beaumont WLS and they have a very structured aftercare program. Dr Chengelis goes step by step and explains all of the risks to you. He has a really good bedside manner....
