My first impression of Dr. Turnquest was very positive. He is a laid back, funny, personable man. Over time, I have grown to like him more. He always makes me feel at ease, and answers all of my questions. His staff is pretty cool. He sees alot of patients, and somehow they know everyone's name. You do not just feel like another patient, but a part of a family. New/future patients should know that he sees ALOT of patients so to call and get an appointment early because his schedule fills up VERY quickly.
Dr. Turnquest and his staff stress the importance of following aftercare procedures and attending your scheduled appointments. He works with the "Well Beginnings" weight loss center at Houston NW Medical Center, and they are an integral part of the aftercare process. His motto... [Click here for more] is that you "are a patient for life" because he encourages his patients to keep in touch with him, even after they have reached their weightloss goal.
Dr. Turnquest has a 0 mortality rate, and was voted the best bariatric surgeon in North Houston. He has received numerous awards and accolades since he has been performing bariatric surgery. Dr. Turnquest is well known by many doctors in Houston, and comes HIGHLY recommended.
Dr. Turnquest informs all of his patients about the risk of surgery, as well as the risks of not having surgery. He makes sure that all of his patients are wll informed, however there is no substitute for your own research.
Overall I would rate Dr. Turnquest a 10 on a scale from 1-10. He is simply MARVELOUS!

My first impression was he knew what he was talking about. That he has a lot of patiens and not everyone is the same or has the same reactions to the surgery. His office staff was ok. I least liked that he wouldnt listen to me as a person and to know that I had reasons for telling him things. No afercare program other tahn follow diet plan and come back at certain times. He did tell me all the risks of the surgery. He is a very good surgeon. Lacking on the bedside manner a bit. Posted on 01/30/2009 |

Very kind and very thorough in his explanation of the surgery. The office staff has been very professional and helpful. I know I made an excellent choice. I also did my homework on him and he is a noted surgeon and well respected.

Dr. Turnquest was very professional and very informative. He told me I would probably lose 100 lbs. and weigh in around 155 lbs. He was right on target! Initially I lost 130 lbs but I looked and felt awful. Unfortunately, I moved very far away and was not able to attend the aftercare meetings he told me about. I've "winged it" but I have always stayed in touch with Dr. Turnquest by e-mail. He does answer e-mails and I do appreciate this! I've lived as far away as Hawaii and e-mailed him questions and he has replied within a few days! I think he is a great surgeon and well respected by my gastro dr. who referred me to him. His record was clean when I checked him over the Internet and in speaking with his patients. He is primarily a surgeon first so he sees everyone for anything... [Click here for more] and everything involving surgery. He had done approximately 40 RNYs when I saw him but since I am now 5 yrs out I am sure he has done many. I know of a woman who still sees him on occasion and she is at least 4 yrs out. He is a wonderful doctor in my eyes.

Dr. Turnquest is very patient and caring.
The office staff very nice most of time. Be sure to get information in writing. Whom ever you talk to be sure to get their name for point of reference. Dr. Turnquest is supportive. I like that he speaks straight forward. He is well educated in the field and pulls not punches with you. Straight to the point kind of doctor.
After care-two weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months visit. I am also able to call his office and speak with a nurse, ofter time the doctor would call me back. Repeat many times the risk.
Surgical competence and bedside manner, If I had to choose surgical competence. Dr. Turnquest is a great doctor. I appreciate his approach of do not worry be happy attitude. Things that I think is an emergency he may feel that... [Click here for more] they are not, but through it all he will be patient with you and your issues. I love Turnquest and highly recommend him to everyone.

Dr Turnquest's name was given to me by a Co-worker. From the moment I met him, I realized everything she said was true. He was very thorough in his explanation of the procedure, risks and what to expect. But his kindness and softspoken manner completely put me at ease. His staff has been thorough and efficient, too. Of course surgical competence is of the utmost importance, but his bedside manner is necessary and very much appreciated. This is a life changing procedure with potential risks involved. I don't want anyone to sugarcoat anything, but I don't want them to scare me to death either. So far I am completely comfortable with how everything has progressed to this point. I loved Dr.Turnquest. He really takes the time to get to know the patient. I first went to Dr.Legget and knew I had to look for another surgeon. Thank goodness my husband works at the hospital and found Dr.Turnquest. I would recommend him to anyone that is thinking of wls and lives in Houston on the NW side of town. My first impression was, "WOW A DOCTOR THAT WANTS TO KNOW MY CONCERNS" and not treat and talk to you like a child. He is very soft spoken and listens to his patients. His staff is extremely helpful. If you send them an email they respond back to you the same day depending on the time. I was given everything that I needed to have done on the first visit.
