Dr Bellanger has been an active member of the American Society for Metobolic and Bariatric Surgery since 1999. Dr. Bellanger was the first surgeon in Baton Rouge to perform the laparoscopic gastric bypass procedure and his practice is dedicated to the practice of bariatric surgery. Currently he performs surgery at St. Ellizabeth's Hospital in Gonzales, LA and at Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA, both facilities have a dedicated staff assisting Dr. Bellanger in bariatric surgery.
Dr. Bellanger is affiliated with the Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation and is actively involved with research in bariatric medicine.
Dr. Bellanger is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Southeastern Surgical Congress, the American Medical Association, the Louisiana State Medical Society, and is an officer in the East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Society.
Dr. Bellanger graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1992. He completed his general surgery training at the University of South Alabama Hospitals in 1997.
Dr. Bellanger currently offers a new patient seminar every other Monday at Woman's Hospital, and every other Thursday at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. He will go over all 3 procedures he performs. For more information on dates and times, please contact our office.
Dr. Bellanger's office also offers a weekly support group for past and future patients as well as family members. Currently it is being held every Wednesday at 7pm at The Woman's Wellness Center on the corner on Bluebonnet and Jefferson in Baton Rouge, LA.
