Dr. Ernest C. Rehnke is a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Afterwards he attended medical school at St. George University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. Rehnke completed his surgical residency at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York and completed a cardiovascular surgery fellowship at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Rehnke, who is certified by the American Board of Surgery, is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the Southeastern Surgical Congress. He is also a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgeons and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
Dr. Rehnke and Palms of Pasadena Hospital have been recognized as a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Care.
He has distinguished himself by publishing multiple articles in the fields of bariatric and general surgery. Dr. Rehnke has served on the faculty of University of South Florida College of Medicine.
