I have just learned that my surgeon Dr. Obeid has died. I am very sad because he was a great man to have helped so many people change their lives to have only lost his. I am sure there are a great many people feeling the sadness of his passing. He was a HERO for many of us and will be greatly missed. Posted on 03/10/2008 |

He was really caring; almost fatherly. In fact, he said I reminded him of his daughter.

Office Staff
The office staff is very friendly and seem to really care about their patients. I just wish they'd close the glass when talking about specifics. :-)
Least Like
That he was overweight. I wondered how he could do this surgery for others but not on himself. Just puzzled me.
Future Patients Should Know
He's fantastic. He really cares about you and how you'll do. He's honest and will do excellent follow up care. He even cornered my husband in the waiting room to give him the run down like he gave me just so someone else would know and hold me accountable...LOL.
Aftercare
Mentioned... [Click here for more] above. Follows through. Not necessarily structured but you do what you want when you feel like it. If you are ready for a fill you'll know or you could call and ask and they'd advice. There's no set schedule for things though (after the initial 6 weeks anyway).
Rate Overall
A++ He's a great surgeon who was honest and straight forward. He was very caring. He didn't act as though he'd done another million just like you. Very fatherly which I liked.
Beside Manner & Surgical Competence
Both are great! I just don't have anything bad to say. My experience has been very positive thus far.

Dr.Obeid is a wonderful guy. Up front and Honest!! Very pleasent and easy to talk to and will to answer any questions.
His office staff is Great!! Everyone is pleasent and so wil to help and listen.
What I really like about Dr. Obeid is that he listens, he tells you just the way things are, and if he feel that you are not right for a certain type of surgery he tells you why. He explains everything to you and lets you ask any questiong you want!!
Dr. Obeid stress aftercare a lot. Aftercare is very important and he is very up front about this! If you are not will to follow with the aftercaer progam and all the follow-up appointments then Dr. Obeid is not for you!!
There is a very structured aftercare program he wants you to follow and it is very important for you to stick with... [Click here for more] and ask questions any time you don't understand something.
Dr. Obeid goes over the Risk of surgery and whether he feel you are ready for this type of surgery. He is willing to answer anything you want to ask!!
What I have seen of Dr. Obeid so far I would say there is no one better or no one else I would trust with my life to do my gastric by-pass!!

My first impression of doctor Obeid was that he is a very caring and knowledgeable man. Since I had already done a consult 3 yrs ago and they still had my records he didnt really spend much time with me and my hubby. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Obeid!
He was great the first time I met him- we went over all the options since I wasn't sure and then he gave me information to look up t make an informed decision.
When my gall bladder started acting up he and his staff did everything possible to expediate the process througbh insurance and got me a date 2 weeks earlier!
He explained everything carefully and I went into surgery relatively calm, which is not the norm.
I would recommend him to anyone thinking about having this surgery! He was caring but completely honest about how much work I would have to do as well. He wants people to be successful so he is upfront and lets them know that this is not a quick cure it is a life style change.

When I first met Dr Obeid He was right to the point which I like in a Doctor. After he explains everything, He give me time to ask questions.
His office staff were very helpful and nice.
Future patients should know that he is very careing Doctor.
They have a very good aftercare team You can call anytime to get answers to your questions
He was very clear about the risks

The Staff at Hurley Bariatric Center are top notch. They are very caring and supportive. If you have a problem they are quick to resolve it.

I just love my surgeon. (Dr. Obied) He was so nice and caring I would definatly refer any one to him. His office is in Flint MI very nice very clean. The staff at the clinic is the best group of people I have ever met. Future patients will love him he is very nice. He told me all the risks of my surgery it scared me a little when he mentioned I could die. I promised him I would do my best if he did his best. We laughed at that but he said he would do everything in his power to make my surgery a positive experience. On a scale from one to ten ten being the highest I would rate him a 11. I think in this line of surgery you have to have both, surgical competence adn bedside manner because after surgery you are in alot of pain and need the encouraging words. The only negative experience... [Click here for more] I had with my surgery was a very mean nurse,(she wasn't one of the regular nurses for the bariatric floor) and my doctor got rid of her the very same day.
