Frank H. Chae, M.D., C.M., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Chae specializes in Bariatric (weight loss) Surgery and advanced Minimally
Invasive Surgery including specialized advanced Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal
Surgery. He founded the first comprehensive total Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass
Surgery program in the Rocky Mountain region in 1998 (health insurance
carriers’ designated center of excellence for Bariatric Surgery).

He is also a teacher and examiner in Bariatric Surgery at the state and
national educational programs for physicians and surgeons. His research
area and publications are in the field of minimally invasive bariatric
and intestinal surgery.

He is a full member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS),
Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES),
Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and Board Certified by
the American Board of Surgery.

He is the Chief Surgeon and Head of National Bariatric Center at Sky Ridge
Medical Center. Previous positions included Head of Bariatric Surgery Program,
Medical Director, Surgery Practice Director, Surgery Fellowship Director,
Medical Student Preceptor, and professor at the University of Colorado Health
Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. He was also the Instructor of Surgery at
the Department of Surgery, George Washington University Medical Center in
Washington, DC.

His education and training background includes premedical studies at Columbia
University, medical studies at McGill University, surgery residency at the
University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and surgery fellowship
at the George Washington University Medical Center. He underwent further
post-graduate surgery studies at the University of Pittsburg and Harvard
University/Massachusetts General Hospital.

He was appointed to the Bariatric Surgery Task Force, Representative to the
National Patient Safety Foundation, and Research/Membership committees for
the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Other
