Dr. Goodman was great! I loved him and his staff. Unfortunately, he is retired now and I currently have Dr. Halverson from Salt Lake City. He too is very good. Probably the only thing that is unfortunate with the Salt Lake City physicians is that they are so far away from me. I live in Montana and do not have a support group where I am at. I truly feel that I have missed out because of that. Salt Lake doctors do provide wonderful "written" information for pre-surgery investigators as well as post op's. This helps.
I feel that both - surgical competence AND bedside manner are important. Although, if I had to choose, I would opt for the competence end! Posted on 10/17/2002 |

Dr. Goodman is the best. He explained the surgery honestly and I new what to expect. He made me feel as though my weight problem was more likely genetic and that really helped my guilt/shame. Because I live in Az. my follow up care was with my regular PCP here. I would highly recommend this doctor for both his surgical competence and bedside manner. Posted on 07/11/2001 |

Gentle, kind, but is now retiring. Office staff is concerned, thoughtful, and in person aware if entire process. I have only positive things to say about the doctor and the hospital.
We need to have more mental health issues addressed to deal with both body images and changes while we make this journey. Eye examinations are probably indicasted, especially in older patients.
Thorough discussions of excercise and drinking water and following nutritional guidelines.
Also discussed the risks of surgery.
Overall rating = AAA+++
Both surgery and bedside manner gives you eagerness to get with the program. The only thing that worried me was that they might not do surgery at my age of 69. 6 months later, I am so glad I had it done!8 Posted on 03/09/2001 |

Dr Goodman was very nice. He talked to me as long as I needed to with no feelings of being rushed. He was very grandfatherly, but definatly tells it like it is. He made me feel better about the surgery, and better about any fears I had. He is open and honest, and upfront. Posted on 03/09/2001 |

Dr. Goodman is very friendly and matter of fact. I never did change my impression of him. His staff is friendly and helpful. I felt he could have been a little more agressive witht he complications I had to the tummy tuck. He is very strong on aftercare and very willing to talk and help. There is a very structured aftercare program. The risks were explained by a video and in person. They were matter of fact without down playing. Overall on a scale of 1 to 10 with ten being the highest I would give him a 8. You need to have a doctor that thas both bedside manner and surgical competence. without them both you are left wandering. Posted on 03/09/2001 |

I met the good Dr. Goodman merely 20 hours prior to my surgery.I found him to be very normal, almost "Grandfatherly" and very kind. My impression of him did change over my post op days, though. I foung him to be even more caring and compassionate that I could have imagained. He stopped by my room each day to check in and just reinforced my post op car and adv
advised me that my labs were all coming back great and I was right on target. Posted on 03/09/2001 |

Dr. Goodman was very nice. He seemed to answer all my questions before I could ask. He was also very realistic. What I mean by that is, I told him that I was a cheerleader in high school and had been healthy and at a nice weight. He explained to me that it is not always good to visualize having my weight the same as that, after having been this big. I wasn't offended at all, because most of my 'diets' ended when I looked at how much weight I had to lose to get back to 120 pounds from well over 200.
The staff at his office was nice. It was very frustrating calling (as I was not very patient) and not being able to talk to the person I needed to. I know that they are very busy people, but the waiting was very nerve-wracking.
I chose Dr. Goodman because he has done it the... [Click here for more] longest amount of time at this office. He was also friendly when I met him.

Only spoke with one lady in Dr. Goodmans office to request paper work. This lady was very caring and answered every question I threw at her. I will update this after I meet with the surgeon. =) Posted on 03/09/2001 |

He's great and the staff is real nice. There isn't anything that I don't like about him he is very nice. He will tell you like it is and he does stress after care. And he does a structures after care program. You have to take a little class befor the surgery and they tell you everything!!! Posted on 03/09/2001 |

2/9/01 I had my first appointment with Dr Goodman in Salt Lake City Tuesday. I was very impressed with his entire office setup. I told my husband we would see when we got there if they REALLY catered to heavy people the first moment we walked into the office. If the furniture could accommodate big people we might have a match! Low and behold I felt SMALL when I walked in. What a place and it was downhill all the way from there. The staff was very supportive and put us at ease from the beginning. Dr Goodman was businesslike, kind and pretty matter of fact. During the interview we discussed my ancestors, then asked about my children. Upon learning my daughter at 16 is about 100# overweight he said I need to get her early before her system begins shorting out and the co-morbidities... [Click here for more] begin taking over. My husband and I really appreciated this. We will be doing some serious thinking.. The video we watched was well done and informative about the risks and positives. The day before surgery I will go in and get educated about aftercare and eating.
My target date for surgery is April 25-30. They seem to think this can happen, we’ll see. I came home from the consult and found my weight was no longer a big secret (like it was ANYWAY-there for all the world to see) I am telling my co-workers and friends. (My original plan was to say I was being operated on for a bladder suspension.) I am doing this for me – to live longer – and if people don’t approve---TOUGH!! So far everyone has cheered me on asking if there is anything they can do, etc.
