Hi folks...I had surgery on Aug. 4th. 1999. There was a young lady that was having the surgery the same day as I. I had complications big time and was in ICU a few days. When I finally did get to move out to the floor the young lady's room was on the same hall. we would see each other as we walked up and down the halls. The day she was dischared from the hospital I was sitting in the chair by the elevator. While waiting on the door to open(she was in a wheelchair and I think her mother was with her)she wished me good luck. I never knew this young lady's name and I have regretted everyday since. If you read this or you know her, please contact me at "medic0_7@yahoo.com". Yes Dr. Engler was my doctor. Thank you so much. Posted on 04/21/2006 |

I like Dr. Engler alot. He is very straight forward with information and seems to be an advocate for the patient. Posted on 01/10/2003 |

My first impression of him was that he seemed really sincere in wanting to help me. Although the first and most important thing for him was to get the insurance to approve the surgery. I have only seen him about 4 times from beginning to end of my experience, although i am going back to him about a tummy tuck. My only real concern about his aftercare was he didn't advise me to take vitamins and that really bothered me.Overall he is a good surgeon who just wants to help people become happy and healthy. My first impression of Dr. Engler was that I really liked him. I was a little skeptical at first but as I was talking with him I changed my opinion of him.
The office staff was very helpful and very polite. There wasn't anything that I disliked about him, I would tell future patients, go prepared to stay a while. He really empasized after care and said it was in the best interest of the patient. He did talk about the risks of surgery and explained it thouroughly. I would rate him a 10 on a chart from 1-10. I haven't had surgery yet, so I don't know about his bedside manner, but he did tell me he didn't have a very good one, he will make you get out of the bed after surgery and not just lay there.
Well I had surgery, and I must say Dr. Engler is a very wonderful surgeon. He had... [Click here for more] a very good bedside manner and answered every question that I had. I would highly reccommend him to anyone.

He's an older Dr. Very kind and understanding. He answered all my questions in an unrushed, comfortable friendly manner. He explained to me that he would not be doing the actual surgery, but would be first assisting physician. As he is getting toward retirement age, I can respect that. Knowing his expertise is in the room with me will be enough. I also feel like the jr. Doctor will take extra care with a patient under Dr. Engler's tutelege. He covered all of my co-morbidities for insurance approval letter most thouroughly. Posted on 05/24/2002 |

3/8/02 Initial Consult with Dr. Engler. I feel very confident in
my choice of doctors. He was excellent and patient answering my
questions. He is very nonjudgemental about weight and seemed to
be sensitive to my feelings. I am worried about insurance approval
and he was very thorough on my letter of necessity. We should hear
something in three weeks. Posted on 03/08/2002 |

Well, I didn't quite know what to expect, however it didn't take long to realize that I'd selected a very bright & kind man to perform my surgery. (I haven't had the surgery yet, but will within the next two weeks)Dr. Engler had to cancel our original appointment, but his staff was able to squeeze me in a day earlier than the original appt. I had to wait a little while, but that isn't unusual in any BUSY Dr's office. When Dr. Engler came in, we got right down to the business at hand, but he did take the time to talk ever so sweetly to my 7 month-old daughter I'd brought along. In fact, his voice was so calming, she fell asleep listening to him. (Unusual for her)I don't know that there was anything I didn't like about him, but I didn't have time to learn a great deal. I will post... [Click here for more] more as time goes on.
Dr. Engler is a very sweet man. I've never questioned my choice of surgeons. He is very capable and caring. My post op has been very positive.

My first impression of Dr. Engler was that he had a good sense of humor. He definatly understands what obesity can do to a person's body. His office staff was very friendly. Dr. Engler has done over 2000 gastric bypasses (per Augusta Chronicle) and I feel he has the surgical competence and patient experience to deal with any problems that may arise. My mother-in-law has used Dr. Engler and his bedside manner and surgical compentence are both great. Posted on 08/07/2001 |
