My own personal experience with this office and the staff of the local support group was not a good one. I have chosen to not ever go back to him or them after several negative experiences. It seems to be the only way that I can move forward in my own journey, unfortunately it means leaving my surgeon in the past. I hope that other people in that situation have a better experience than I did. I think it's best that I do not answer the specific questions and just leave the rest up to your imagination.    Posted on 02/08/2008

I was impressed that Dr. Stone himself conducted the initial informational seminar. He seemed very knowledgable and professional, but displayed a sense of humor as well. He repeatedly stressed the risks, as well as the benefits of WLS. While he's not exactly Mr. Personality, he is very thorough and reassuring. I feel confident in his abilities and that is the most important thing!    Posted on 05/31/2007

Dr. Stone is honest and gets to the point. Some patients may like friendly banter with their doctors, if so he is probably not what you are looking for. That is why I like him though. I just want to get to the point. The lady at the front office window was extremly nice and helpful. She seemed genuinly happy for me, and when another patient was tired of waiting and started being rude with her, she was able to make them smile too, without being rude or aggressive back to them. I don't like the woman who does the scheduling very much because she is really rude and I figured that's how the rest of the staff would be, so I think she makes them all look bad. I know Dr. Stone is a very good surgeon because I have heard nothing bad about him at all, and he hasn't had any problems thus far... [Click here for more]

I liked Dr. Stone from the first time I heard him speak at an informational seminar for the bariatric surgery group at Shasta Regional Medical Center in far northern Ca. He was candid, warm, and encouraging. Dr. Stone was clear about the risks of surgery and realistic about what is required of post-op WLS folks and what goals are feasible. In my opinion, he is a superb surgeon and a thoughtful, supportive caregiver. I trusted him with my life and would again, without hesitation. I have never been made to feel hurried during my appointments and Dr. Stone is always up to date on my condition, stats, etc. He makes each patient feel like a person, not a "condition." The entire Shasta Regional Medical Center bariatric team is first-rate.    Posted on 01/28/2007

Very serious person. “Matter of facts” is my impression. Very professional. Be sure what you are wanting and be ready to be held accountable. After the surgery he seems to have warmed up a little. But I could not think of anyone else I would have wanted to do it.    Posted on 12/04/2006

My first impression of Dr. Stone was he definately know what he was talking about. I felt very comfortable with him and I know I am in good hand with him as my surgeon. His staff was great and very helpful, got me into an appt. as soon as possible which I apprecaited very much. I feel very confident in choosing Shasta Regional and the program he and Dr. Nichols have put together. It is great for surgical care, after care and long term care.    Posted on 10/17/2006

My first impression of Dr. Stone was that he is a very competent no-nonsense kind of surgeon. I felt that I was placing myself in the best of hands. In the hospital I saw that he is a very kind person with a very dry sense of humor. He has a very structured program and he expects all of his patients to follow his orders! His office staff is great. The staff at Shasta Regional Medical Center is terrific! I can’t say enough good things about them. Like I said Dr. Stone is a very no-nonsense doctor if you are looking for competency he’s your guy. If you need a lot of hand holding he’s not for you. He was the perfect doctor for me.    Posted on 07/08/2006

WELL LET ME GO DOWN THE LIST. MY FIRST IMPRESSION WAS AT THE CONFRENCE AND TALK ABOUT KNOWLEDGE HE HAS IT GOING ON. THEN ON TO MY CONSULT I LIKED HIM EVEN MORE. HE HAS A VERY CARING WAY. HE WILL ANSWER ANY AND ALL QUESTION. HE ORDERS TEST IF YOU NEED THEM. HIS ASST WAS VERY NICE AND GREAT WITH ANSWERING QUESTIONS WHILE YOU WAITED WHICH WAS NOT MORE THEN 5 MIN, THE FRONT OFFICE GIRLS WERE BUSY PROFFESINAL AND KIND. i THINK THE BEST WORD TO DISCRIBE DR STONE IS PROFFESSIONAL. I'LL POST MORE AS I GO ALONG WITH THIS PROCUDURE    Posted on 01/29/2006

Dr. Stone is a warm and funny man but is a no nonsense surgeon. If you are looking for a lot of hand holding and making friends, he is not for you. BUT if you are looking for an intellegent and knowledgable surgeon who tells it like it is, Dr. Stone is your man. He is very picky and expects you to follow his rules completly, but they are for your safety and health so why wouldn't you?? He has a great staff of gals that will help you any way they can and are very patient! The after care for SRMC is very structured and Dr. Stone stresses a minimum 5 year committment to the after care program. Overall I am very pleased that he is my surgeon and feel very comfortable in his hands.    Posted on 05/19/2005

So far all of my interactions with Dr. Stone have been great. I have now seen him on three occastions and I like him. He is not the warm fuzzy type, but hey as long as he takes good care of me, great! He seems very thorough and I like that. He has recently done surgery on two friends and both have had great outcomes!    Posted on 04/30/2005
