John Yadegar, M.D., Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at UCLA Medical Center.
Medical Director of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at LCH
John Yadegar, MD, Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at UCLA Medical Center, has joined the medical staff at Lancaster Community Hospital as Director of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery and Telemedicine. For most severely overweight patients, he uses a minimally invasive procedure known as laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
"Today that's the gold standard for bariatric surgery," Dr. Yadegar says. "We want to establish comprehensive, up-to-date care for patients by bringing advanced surgical procedures to the Lancaster community."
Dr. Yadegar, who prides himself on delivering one-on-one patient care, has repeatedly witnessed the power of bariatric surgeries to transform lives.
"It really is a new lease on life," he says. "In the majority of cases, it will resolve patients' related conditions. It enables them to face new chapters of their lives with better health and helps them plan for healthier futures."
He also performs other laparoscopic procedures, including: abdominal hernias, gallbladder and biliarypancreatic surgery, spleen, adrenal, esophageal, gastric (such as acid reflux or cancers), small bowel and colon surgeries.
Dr. Yadegar received his medical degree from the University College and Middlesex School of Medicine in London and engaged in postgraduate education and training in Cambridge and London, and then continued at Harbor-UCLA, Los Angeles, and Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester (New York Medical College) and Danbury (Yale-Conn.) Hospital. He completed his fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at UCLA Medical Center.
When he is not in the operating room, Dr. Yadegar enjoys spending time with his wife, Stephanie Louise, and their children, Daniel, 5, and Abigail, 3. They enjoy community involvement.
