Dr. Ortiz had a very charismatic, calming professional bedside manner that contributed to a great comfort level going into surgery and an ease at asking all of your last questions. I was very impressed with his experience and expertise. The office staff were very pleasant, polite and ever so accommodating. My experience with Dr. Ortiz and his staff certainly surpassed some of my best experiences with doctors in the states. No regrets, no hesitation to recommend with high commendation. I think Dr. Vitello is a great surgeon. All of my physician's work out of Northwestern, but I went to Dr. Vitello because he is the best at performing the Lap RNY. I did not have any complications, and went home in two days. I had my first follow up appt with him, and will be seeing him in two weeks to be released back to work. I found him kind, nad he always answers my questions. Posted on 08/19/2008 |

I had my Surgery on Thursday, 6/26/08. I'm very happy with Dr. Vitello. I had a question today and was able to reach him by phone immediately. He was very kind and did not rush me. God Bless him for doing what he does. Posted on 06/30/2008 |

Dr. Vitello was upfront and no-nonsense about all aspects of surgery which I appreciated. He visited me in the hospital and answered any questions I had. He did a great job (also had to take my gallbladder due to stones). His nurse Holtcamp is also wonderful. She will answer any questions you have. Posted on 02/09/2008 |

His Honesty on ALL aspects of the surgery !
My impression of him strenghten as time
goes on ! He's simply the BEST !!!
His office staff was/is helpful.
There is really Nothing that I don't like about him !
Future patients will be happy with his simple,
but informative answers to their questions !
He emphasizes aftercare, but doesn't force it
upon you, like other surgeons/programs !
He explains ALL RISKS of surgery, and that YOU have to be the one to weigh the Pros
versus the Cons !
My rating for Dr. Joseph Vitello-UIC>AAA+++
"You just can't beat this guy with an egg beater !!!" SIMPLY THE BEST-PERIOD !!!
In my opinion his surgical competence was/is better than his bedside manner, that's the main reason I like him so much !
I only wish the hospital staff was a TENTH as... [Click here for more] good as he is !
FUTURE PATIENTS-PLEASE NOTE !!!
Watch out for nurse: REGINA !!!

2-3-01 After doing lots of research and emailing about 50 patients of various surgeons, I've chosen Dr. Vitello.
I have an appt with him on 2-27-01. Hopefully, I'll be able to have the surgery soon after. Since we won't have to
wait for insurance approval, it shouldn't be too long!!
2-28-01 Met with Dr. Vitello yesterday, and feel very confident in him. He's done over 500 of these surgeries. He was very candid, and doesn't "sugar-coat" anything. I felt very comfortable talking with him. I think he's great! Posted on 11/04/2007 |

I had consulation with Dr Joseph Vitello on September 21, 2006. I at first thought that I didnt like him because he wasnt very personable, he was very cut and dry about the procedure he was going to perform, but very informative with the information of everything from beginning to after affects etc etc.. he did lighten up a lil by the end of the visit which made me feel more comfortable. I adjusted myself to the idea that just because he wasnt what I expected him to be, he is very sure of what he is doing and thats all that matters. Im looking very forward to seeing him again to get this show on the road. Posted on 02/17/2007 |

I loved Dr Vitello. It is hard to get an appointment set up as he makes his own.
If you want all the "fluffy, feel good" stuff, he isn't the Dr for you. I liked his to the point, down to earth approach. He gives all the bad possibilities along with the good. I know a couple of people who went to him and I was impressed by thier recovery and success. He has been doing open surgeries for a long time, but hasn't done many laporoscopic surgeries. I agreed to let him do lap on me with Dr Ayloo, and am glad I did as recovery is so much easier. Posted on 01/22/2007 |
