He seems really nice and laid back. I really liked that he was very straight to the point - he said what he was thinking.
He gave us a realistic pre-surgery weight loss goal and was very realistic and informative about the surgery.
I have found a great deal of respect for him as he has post-poned my surgery due to me being on steroids for my colitis. He gave it to me straight and even though I broke down crying and begged and pleaded, he didn't give in! He said it would be more dangerous than it needs to be and he stuck to his decision. He aslo said that if I were at "another hospital" that they may do the surgery, but that I would be more than doubling my risk for leaks or perforations! Posted on 01/27/2010 |

I finally got to meet Dr.Ben-David at my pre-op consult. He seems to be a very intelligent and confident doctor, and witty too. He mad me feel comfortable and reassurred. I give him a thumbs up. Also the entire staff is awesome and my hat goes off to Amelia and the other young ladies in that department, they must have the gift of patience. LOL The entire surgical team was great AND VERY INFORMATIVE and findley the dietitian was very informative the way she explained everything made it seem like the diet is going to be easy to follow. My first impression of Dr. Ben-David has been great so far. His office person Amelia is so helpful. I have had to reschedule my surgery three times now (so I would understand greatly if she were to grow frustrated).rnI am now scheduled for January 20th (I will see Dr. Ben-David in clinic on the 8th to do my pre op). rnMy two clinic appointments as well as the mandatory seminar have been very informative and I feel Dr. Ben-David's up front and open approach makes it extremely easy to talk to him regarding any concerns or issues.rnI will keep you posted as my date gets closer. He is a very personable doctor. I felt very comfortable discussing the surgery with him. rnHe answered all of my questions.rnrnRight before surgery he asked if I would consider the lapband instead of the RNY. I said yes. My surgeon will be Dr. Ben-David who is with Surgical Associates of Shands @ UF. My first impression of him was FANTASTIC. He was very down-to-earth and approachable, explained everything to me, and answered all of my questions. He made me feel very confident about the surgery and him as a surgeon. He went into detail about aftercare, which was a concern of mine so I was glad to hear that. So far, I think he's awesome!rn**Update: I had my surgery on February 25th, 2008. Dr. Ben-David was great, I think he's a very skilled surgeon who also has a great bedside manner. He made me feel very comfortable, as he has a very low-key personality, but he also is very confident in his abilities and made me feel at ease.
