I couldn't be happier with Dr. Stegemann. He is very attentive and caring and I couldn't imagine having a better physician.
The staff in his office (now) is wonderful. They split with the program they were originally with about a month ago, and that has significantly improved the service of the staff. Now they are very helpful, nice, and just plain wonderful.
I would recommend Dr. Stegemann to everyone! Posted on 10/23/2007 |

Dr Stegeman was my surgeon who performed the surgery, which was scheduled on Oct 9, 2007 at 12:30 in the afternoon. It ran a little late and I finally went at about 2:00
My process was long and tedious due to my insurance. I went the the seminar in Jan 07 and as you can see I wasn't scheduled until Oct.
Throuch almost the whole process the surgeons were affilicated with Weight Wise. They seemed I saw them once a month for dietary consult and scheduled my next appt.
Dr Stegeman was very pleasant to work with. I have no complaints and would recommend him to anyone.
Since I am a nurse in a hospital and very familiar with very poor to execellent beside manner. I would say they go hand in hand. Posted on 10/17/2007 |

Dr. Stegemann is a very direct, no-nonsense individual. He was very knowledgable of bariatric surgery, and had answers to all my questions. My impression only improved with time. His office staff was a little disorganized, however, my appointment the day prior to surgery they were packing up to move into their new offices. Following surgery, at the new location, things seemed to have settled down, and the staff was very courteous and helpful when I call in. I can't think of anything I didn't like about Dr. Stegemann. He was very straightforward about his expectations of me with aftercare and all follow up visits being of uptmost importance. There is a very structured aftercare program at WeightWise here in San Antonio, one of the best I've found in all my research. Dr. Stegemann... [Click here for more] addressed all issues regarding risks of surgery, complications, and how he would work around any such problems. I would rate Dr. Stegemann as a very superior physician. I believe a physician, to be effective needs a good bedside manner as well as surgical competence.

Honestly , young and attractive .
Dr. stegemann knows his field of specialty.
Office staff is good, not real out going , but they do handle alot od patients .
At this time, I am not sure about disliking something about the Dr. .
That Dr. Stegemann is a very smart and caring surgeon and after talking with him , you will understand this too .
The whole group of surgeons , push for alot of after care , and they mean and care about their patients .
There is a great aftercare program , several times the first year and once there after .
Dr. Stegemann tells you all about the risks up front in your initial visit with him .
At this time and having meet most all of the other surgeons in the group , I give Dr. stegemann , an excellent grade ... a 10 .
Of course , surgical is better... [Click here for more] , but you do have to have bedside . He has BOTH !

dr stegemann from the moment i met him appeared confident, caring and most important competant...my impression has not changed he was just the same in the hospital and since my surgery. his views on aftercare is what drew me to him- he is a proponet of group support -he has a structured aftercare program and from the impressions i have he requires it. the office staff at weightwise is FABULOUS -accomodating, friendly...not enough good words to describe them-- Posted on 12/28/2006 |

My first contact with Dr. Stegemann was at a seminar I attended over a year ago. I was impressed with his compassion and confidence with his ability to care for his patients. After having my initial consultation with him I was only reassured that I picked the surgeon most capable. Compassionate and confident yet somewhat strict. Post surgery, I can say that, without a doubt, I had the best surgeon for my surgery and would recommend him 100% to anyone looking for, not only a WL surgeon, but a general surgeon as well. I met Dr. Stegemann at a seminar and was very impressed. He seem very passionate about helping people succed with their weight loss goals. I knew then that I wanted him as my surgeon. I also did research on him and he is very knowlegable and has a great aftercare program and support groups. I have nothing bad to say about him, as far as I'm concerned he has saved my life! I would highly recommend him to anyone! Posted on 10/21/2006 |

All i got to say about my surgeon and the staff is that they worked hard to get me in and process my paperwork. his bedside manner was great. he really does care about his patients. i couldnt be happier with dr stegemann. but not to say that the other surgeons arent great, they are also because i know people who went to them, but i just had not had the chance to meet them. Steg's the man. He's very into what you're thinking, and doesn't allow you to not know what you're getting into. He's serious, yet supportive and approachable at the same time. So far, I like him. I'll know more after he guts me...er...cuts me...er...performs the delicate surgery...that's what I meant to say. Posted on 07/18/2006 |

He is very kind, explains things very well.
Staff is very knowledgeable, work very hard to get things done, but because I had an out of state BCBS plan that was different than the local BCBS they assumed it was a like plan but the coverage is very different & getting things approved went much quicker once I got them to understand not to call the local BCBS offices but to deal directly with MA not TX where I reside. He explained every in detailed, very emphatic about followups. Keep appts or you are OUT. Addresses risks from the beginning. Rate him number one and as an RN of 32 yrs I stand by this. Surgical competence is mandatory but having someone like Dr. Lloyd Stegemann who has the bedside manner & patience that he has is a talent that only comes around so rare. He is one to... [Click here for more] look for in a Weight Loss Surgeon.
My only problem was with billing issues.
