My first impression of Dr France was that he was genuinely interested in assisting me overcome my weight problem with some kind of surgical intervention. Ok I met the 'gut butcher' (as I affectionately call him) today and he was sooo young!
Well, he is the same age as I am… BUT… I don’t cut people open for a living (Thank goodness I hear you say? Right you are!)

My first impression of Dr France was a good one (though I did think he was younger than I expected). But once I started chatting with him he made me feel comfortable and at ease and definately knew what he was talking about. I initially was there to discuss lap banding but after getting more information I ended up preferring the Sleeve Gastrectomy which I am so much happier with this decision now I have read up more on both surgeries. Dr France has continued to be super helpful and is happily answering all my questions I have been emailing him. I have my Surgery date for 29th March 2007 and so far am more than happy with my decision and with everything about Dr France. I will let you know more post op.

I am very lucky I chose him first up...and also that he talked me out of lap banding and int this instead. I can't say anything bad about him at all...he has top qualifications, believes in what he does, keeps himself right up with current info and proceedures, is down-to-earth (like talking to a friend), very informative and answers questions well, great bedside manner and unrushed with appointments or emails. Can't speak highly enough of him!

I knew Michael was the surgeon for me after my first appointment. He was down to earth, honest and approachable in every aspect.
Due to my surgery being a lap-band revision I experienced some complications and a gastric leak. During the 3 weeks I was in hospital Michael stopped by every day and his care was first rate. Posted on 03/12/2007 |

I've only had one consult with Dr France but found him very easy to talk to - he listened and he understood. I actually went to see him about lap band surgery but by the time I left his office, I had a date of 15th March 2007 booked for a sleeve gastrectomy and after reading some horror stories about lap band, I'm glad he talked me out of it. First Impressions - I went to see Dr France in relation to bowel problems and was not expecting my weight to be brought up, but he calculated my BMI and asked me if I had ever considered WLS. I had not and was quite dismissive of it in the consultation. He gave me his card, with his website on it, wrote down the suggested surgery and grehlin on the back of the card and said that if I thought about it and wanted to find out more to come and see him. Initially I thought this was out of line, and I brushed it aside. I am now considering the surgery recommended and have done a lot of online research. I emailed Dr France some questions and he emailed me back with quite detailed answers the next day. He seems young and confident.

Second Consult - I went into Dr France's office with 2 A4 sheets of paper filled with questions I wanted to ask about him and surgery. I took DB with me in case he had questions as well. Even though it took over an hour (and I think he had other patients waiting) he took the time to answer most of my questions in a thorough manner.
He had his secretary prepare a quote for me and gave me an initial date for surgery. All very quick, but I am happy with this and willing to go ahead.
I understand more about his surgical background and am comfortable that he genuinely believes in the benefits of the surgeries that he performs and is keen on setting very high standards. I find him trustworthy and compassionate.
My next consult is the 24th October 2006
