My first impression was that he knew his stuff.
So far my impression has not changed.
His staff is so professional, friendly, and patient love them. I dont have any complaints today. He gives you the desired amount of time you need with him and he is willing to answer all of your questions and does not rush you. He constantly emphasizes aftercare. He give you all the information you will need on the aftercare. He spent a lot of time talking with us about th erisk of surgery. Right now I fill very comfortable with the fact that he is going to perform my surgery, He has a great bedside manner and I will get back with you all and tell you everything else that is great about him after my surgery. My Lap band surgeon was Dr. Michael Wood, but he was affiliated with CORI centers at the time (2006). He has since started his own practice with Dr. Jamokay Taylor. I was very please with Dr. Wood IN THE BEGINNING. He was informative, encouraging, he had a great sense of humor, and a great bed side manner. My surgery went well and my visit at Harper was great! Dr. Wood visited me post surgery (a holiday) and answered all of my questions. Dr. Wood lost his appeal after many, many canceled appointments and long waits in the waiting room. Dr. Wood failed to order lab work on me until a year after my surgery. I didn't know I was supposed to have had it immediately post surgery. It took me over a year to even get my second adjustment and I had to go to Dr. Taylor to get it because Dr.... [Click here for more] Wood kept cancelling his appointments. Dr. Wood only does lap band adjustments on Fridays and only once a month and still can't keep those appointments. I am so disappointed because I had heard so many good things about him. It is devastating when you count on your surgeon to maintain your band and be available for follow-up and they are not! Maybe he was good when he was with CORI, but in his own practice I think that he is being pulled in too many directions at once and the patients are suffering. These are just my personal impressions of my own personal experience and I am making no statements about what other people may experience.

My first impression of Dr. Wood: He seems kind and highly engaged with his patients. He was informative and conveyed experience in his session with the group and with me. I was comfortable and remained relaxed during the initial consultation. The nursing staff is friendly and accommodating. I cannot say much more because if this experience had not been this way I would not have chosen Dr. Wood. Posted on 08/01/2008 |

Dr Micheal Wood gave a friendly and professional first impresssion. He was knowledgeable about the various WLS procedures and took the time to explain the pros and cons of each. His staff at the "Cori Center" was friendly and prompt with returning call about any questions I had before and afer the office visit. He is a skillled surgeon and my surgery went smoothly. However the follow up care after sugery through the Cori Center was inadequate. I was basicly left to find my own follow up suppport group. But the scale was still going down-- so I didn't bother. Now 3 years later; I actually place lack of support fom the center as one of the reasons that I have regained some of my weight. Since my surgery the Cori Center has closed. Posted on 06/21/2008 |

I was really impressed with Dr. Wood's office staff. I called to inquire about VSG surgery, which started the ball rolling toward approval. It was great to have information about what is required so I could do what I have to do before my first consultation. I will attend a group support session on Wednesday, June 25, 2008. My first impression of Dr. Wood was warmth and has remained the same..Dr. Wood makes you feel like you are his only patient and what you feel, think, etc. MATTERS. I can't think of one thing I dislike about Dr.Wood. If there is one thing to know about Dr. Wood he has a lot of patients but, each one is special. aftercare is a MUST with Dr. Wood he has a wonderful program specialist to follow in his office. Dr. Wood is 100% ! Posted on 05/12/2008 |

Great Very caring. Office staff is very nice, had no problems. He is strict about the surgeries he performs. He wants you to be healthy, and in good care. Emphasizes alot about after care and that him and our dietician is there for us when we have any questions. Risks were explained in full upfront and to the point. I would rate Dr. Wood a 10 already. I have not had my surgery yet, but I feel I am in good hands. When you are looking for a Doctor, make sure he is caring, understands what you want out of the surgery, and honest and upfront about everything. Doesn't sugar coat anything.
I had my surgery on March 27th, and have had all good experiences with Dr. Wood. This doctor has the best bed side manner I have ever seen. When I was in the hospital he came in my room pulled... [Click here for more] the chair by my bed and sat with me for a half hour, to make sure everything was ok. He wanted to know how I was feeling, and asked me alot of questions. I tell you this man is a wonderful individual, and I cannot say enough about him.
Today, I had my post op with Dr. Wood. I have already lost 18lbs and I am only 8 days out. WOW...I am very happy with him.
Well today is May 9 2008, and I had my 1 month post op. I have lost a total of 50lbs. Lost 10 inches off my waist and 4 inches off my hips. WOW>>>How great.. Dr. Wood, of course was always kind, and very proud of me. He is a wonderful man.
