Dr Lakdawala is quite personable, and seems surgically competent. I had a blockage several days after my initial surgery, and he figured out the problem when he went back inside me and fixed it. I wish they had done the second surgery much sooner, as it left me with several agonizing days, but I think he was out of the country. I was a bit unhappy that they tried to persuade me into getting a RNY instead of a DS, which I'd flown 30 hours to India for, and told me some inaccurate things in doing so (such as the surgeries had the same weight loss statistics, and that I'd have horrible gas / diarrhea issues, both untrue). I also had an issue with my "nurse calling" button getting turned off when I'd gotten fluid accumulating in my lungs, which was then exacerbating asthma, and they just... [Click here for more] turned it off. Most nurses didn't speak / understand English as well as I was told they would, but overall, I think the care of both the nurses and doctors surpassed what I would have had in the US, and I would probably do it again.rnOh yah, as far as aftercare, I'd be ready with a local pcp to help with follow up, as I've only had one question for Dr Lakdawala via email, which was not answered. The nutritionist is very good at answering emails and follow up.

the following are some feedbacks from his patients,I didnt meet him yet(those patients from USA):rnDr. Lakdawala is the best, I am so grateful to have had such a great team with himself and Dr. Goel my anesthsiologist. I went to India from the U.S. last september, and I am now dow 95 lbs. My physcian here in the states cannot believe how well I am doing. If I had to do this over again, I would absolutly do this again, my experience was great, the staff at the hospital was go kind, and always there for you. rn rnI still keep in contact with my dietician Ms. Baytral, and email my blood test results and they continually contact me for my progress. I wish you the best, and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me.rn rnI did have the laproscopic gastric bypass, and... [Click here for more] had no complications whatsoever. As I said earlier, this was the best thing I could do for myself. I arrived in India just over 270 lbs. and I am now 175 lbs. rn rnI hope this has helped you.rn___rnrnI got your contact e mail from ( Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala ) rn rnI am going to have my surger with him with 15 days and i am going to travel from my home countery to india for that reasonrn rnI really need your help and advicern rnIs he a good doctor (YES!)rn rnany complication (None)rn rnhow is the hospital (Excellent. Best thing I've done in many a year.)rn rndid he or any of his staff folowe you up after leaving india (Yes, his nutritionist, Payal, has followed up several times the first month and about monthly since then. Last email from her was last week.)rn rndid you get any benifit from surgery till now (Weighed 250 when I left Houston for India in Jan 2007; weighed 178 last night. Dropped from pant size 44-48 to size 36 which are now getting pretty loose ... I'll need to buy size 34 in a few weeks.
