I first contacted Dr. Christou in May of 2007, and after the first few e-mails that we exchanged I felt total confidence and trust in him.
My confidence in Dr. Christou and his team was confirmed for me when I had my first opportunity to meet him in his office on August 20, 2007.
October 09, 2007, Surgery day in Montreal. I was not nervous and recovered well from the Gastric Bypass Surgery.
Today, March 29, 2008, I have lost more the 125 pounds in the 6 months since my surgery.

He was excellent, totally not condescending, explained everything clearly and his staff was superb. I felt very informed when I left the office.
The only issue was the french/englishlanguage problem with some of the nurses.
Surgical competence is definitely most important, but he was both.
We are trying to create an aftercare program from the other side of the country. Once the holidays are over, things should progress. Posted on 01/01/2008 |

Great first impression. I felt like I was meeting a celebrity. He took the time to explain the procedure and related risks.
My day of testing was a bit daunting as I was from out of town and trying to find my way around the city took a bit of time but I got to all my appointments pretty much on time.
My only suggestion to those coming from out of town -- you may want to think about staying overnight in Montreal the night before any appointments because coming into the city during rush hour traffic was chaotic and quite frankly, a bit scary. Posted on 10/04/2007 |

From our very first e-mail communication I have had nothing but positive interactions with Dr. Christou. When I was just doing my research I sent him an e-mail with some general questions. He answered me right away and was very patient and friendly. I have also had a chance to observe him interacting with some of his other patients at his office and he treats everyone with such warmth and kindness. I can only say the same thing about all of the other staff. I was treated like family by everyone.
Unfortunately, after the surgery things changed a great deal. Both my GP and myself are having great difficulty to reach anyone from Dr. Christou's staff. My doctor tried to contact the nurse clinician to ask some questions, they were never fully answered. I have also had great difficulty... [Click here for more] getting through to the staff, or getting any of my questions answered. I cannot help, but begin to feel that once they were paid, I seized to be of any importance whatsoever and am left to deal with my recovery without any further help form my own surgeon. but of course, as I was prompted to state by the legal department, this is only my own personal opinion, based on my own, personal experience and other person's experiences may differ. (Even though I am aware of other patients of Dr. Christou mentioning similar things.)

-excellent the morning of the surgery. He seems very confident and he was very quiet.
-not really see him after. The Bariatric Suergery Team of royal Vic is in charge of the post-op

The first time I met Dr. Christou, he was very soft spoken and very knowledgeable about the procedure, RNY Gastric Bypass, and also I was infored by Dr. Christou that i was able to have the surgery Lapriscopically done, which is great. I hope that when it get closer to the srugery date I will have more info. But now I just want to be healthy. I had my surgery on July 19th and it was a full success, I am losing my weight slowly but I am losing, The staff during my surgery were really nice and they calmed me down, I was a basket sace before surgery, But now I am out 1 month and I feel much better, thanks to Dr. Christou and his wonderful OR Staff. I am learning new things about my self and eating a new way. ITs been a winding ride since but it has been a good way better than being... My first impression was , he is a very nice and calm Doctor, he explains things so we can understand correctly , and he loves all his patients.
Well now the office staff is very very nice and they all are so comprehensif ,
that he takes care of every one of his patients equaly.
they see that we show up at our appointments and they ask lots of question that we wouldnt think of asking ourselfs.
yes he does have an after structured program and it helps a great deal.
he read the book and showed me everything i needed to know.

Dr Christou is an experienced and talented bariatric surgeon and strikes me as a very caring person. When I first met him for my initial consult, I had many questions, and asked him how much time he had to give me. He told me that he had as much time to give as it would take to answer my questions. I spoke to him for well over an hour and a half, and by the time I had finished talking to him, I felt completely comfortable with him as my choice of surgeon. He is also trained in critical care medicine and I don't think you could find a better bariatic surgeon in Canada.
His assistant, Mary, is also very kind and helpful and although she is extremely busy, has always taken the time to talk to me and answer all of my questions. Posted on 06/29/2006 |
