Dr. Frye is a very caring doctor. He really wants everyone to succeed and to this end his office has an extensive pre-op and after-care program. When you have your initial consult with him and the staff, they give you a sheet of things that you need to start doing right away to prepare your body for this life change. Things like no more soda or smoking and start walking 2 miles every day. They are serious about those 2 miles. The office staff is great, many have had the surgery. Dr. Frye retired in September, 2006. I miss going for the biannual visits, but not the dreaded drive to Fresno. Posted on 11/18/2007 |

I had my Gastric Bypass November 8, 2001, in Fresno Calif, at Fresno Surgery Center. Dr Paul Frye was awesome, his staff is great too. He took time to answer any questions or concerns I or my husband had. He went over risks with us, and side efffects and such. He likes to take care of all his Gastric Bypass patients for a 5 yr program. He was very caring after my surgery, and when I had complications, made sure I was well, before releasing me. Cathy, his nurse, is great, she was always there for me, any time I had questions after I got home. Right after surgery, I lost my insurance, they worked with me, what was important to them, was that I be seen, no matter what, I was so Post-op, I needed care. Even though I am 16 months post op now, I know he is only a phone call away. He made... [Click here for more] going through this scary thing,,EASY!!! I reccomend him to every one!!! He's GREAT!!!

My first impression of Dr. Frye was very competent and detail oriented. He did a fantastic job with my surgery and I would recommend him to anyone. He has very good statistics and I had no complications whatsoever. In my personal opinion, at times his bedside manner seemed a bit cranky or preachy. However, looking back I'm glad I stuck with him, because the care I received was the top of the line. Dr. Frye's staff is very friendly, particularly the nurse, Evelyn, with whom I have all my follow-ups. Posted on 06/27/2005 |

I was very pleased when meeting Dr Frye. He was straight to the point at the orientation which is exactly what I like. I don't like wishy washy doctors. He did state at orientation that each person will react differently to the surgery and didn't realize how much until after the surgery. It took awhile to keep anything down (which he did state) but wasn't told that it would hurt to eat but each patient is different. His office staff were very helpful thru the whole process from the orientation to getting the insurance to approve the surgery and even the post op appointments. Just wonderful. Future patients need to know that Dr Frye can tell when you are lying to him about your walking so don't lie. If you do decide to have the surgery and anything comes up by your surgery... [Click here for more] date like a cold, pneumonia, ulcers..let the doctor know so he can determine whether or not it is safe to go ahead with the procedure or to postpone it. Dr Frye is very good about the after care. It is every month for 2 months and then every 3 months after that until you reach your 1 yr anniversery then it is every 6 months. That is the point I'm at right now. The doctor would like for you to continue your 2 miles of walking and to take your vitamins and protein. Also drink the 2 liters of water per day. When Dr Frye presented the orientation he was very thorough regarding the risks and even gave out handouts that explain the risks of the surgery. He wanted you to know what you are getting into from the get go. I have great praises for Dr Frye. He literally has changed my life for the better. Just follow the rules he lays out for you and everything will go smoothly. He was so awesome during and after the surgery. I would totally recommend him to anyone who wants to do this surgery.

He has a passion for patients doing their 2 mile walking everyday w/no exceptions and will not take any excuses short of having lost a limb. He does not have the best bedside manners pre-op but was very attentive post-op and I trusted him completely.
Office staff are attentive and quick to reply to any questions I may have had about the surgery or now, about any post-op questions I may have.
Future patients should be prepared to make a lifelong commmittment to walk at least 2 miles pre/post-op per day NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
Dr. Frye was very thorough about all risks and was very specific about aftercare even providing all of his patients w/a GB "bible" which covers all important information re pre and post-op care and questions.
I would give Dr. Frye an over score of 9 on a... [Click here for more] scale of 1-10. He is very professional and knows what is best for me.
Although his bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired, I am comfortable with the way I was treated and would not have it any other way.
