My first impression was incrediable. Dr B took his time in explaining the procedure and requirements and spents a lot of time giving me the opportunity to ask questions. He had a very good bed side manner and became a very good friend. I dont think there was anything I didnt like about him. He and his partner work very close together on cases such as these. Dr B stresses how much aftercare is important, he has even called me on occassion personally, if he hasnt heard from me. He addressed the risk in the office and at the support groups. The support groups were very informative and helpful in many ways. I would rate him and his staff a perfect 10. Both surgical competence and bedside manner are good. Posted on 11/03/2006 |

Dr. Breslaw and Dr. Hyland are both excellent surgeons. I found them to be very supportive and caring. I had my pre-op meeting with Dr. Breslaw and he addressed all the risks involved with this surgery. I liked the fact that he was honest and told me what to expect after the surgery. He answered all my questions. I didn't meet Dr. Hyland until post-op in the hospital. He made sure I was alright and that I wasn't in any pain. I was impressed with his bedside manner. The office staff has been wonderful to me. They all are very competent and always happy to help in any way that they can. I am extremely happy that Dr. Breslaw and Dr. Hyland did my surgery. Dr. Breslaw and Dr. Hyland perform all of their bariatric surgeries together. They are a great team and have a lot of experience doing this surgery. They only perform the RNY and have never had to complete an open operation. Their office staff has been a joy to work with. It took me 16 months to get my date, but that is not a reflection on the doctors or their staff. Insurance companies are eliminating the surgery and I went through 3 different companies before finding one to allow the surgery.

I was very nervous on my first visit to Dr. Ralph Breslaw. He made my husband and I feel at ease, took his time, answered all the questions and invited us to come to a meeting, which I found very helpful. His office staff was very helpful in trying to get me approved for the surgery (so many doctors' recommendations!) Dr. Breslaw is a good listener, and very positive. He was always available, and spelled out the positive and negative aspects of the surgery. The aftercare program was very good, and he emphasized the importance of meetings and group support. He started a nutrition group, and I can't say enough about Ruth Conover. I am very happy that I had him for a surgeon, he is very competent, and has a wonderful bedside manner. I was very impressed with his practice and how they handled each patient and the time they take.
My impression only got better and I was totally confident that I picked the right surgeon.

Anyone considering this surgery who lives in Florida should speak to this surgeon. They make you feel totally comfortable and explain everything in detail and will always answer your questions before, during and even after.
There aftercare program is excellent. I go to support groups on a monthly basis. They also have dietary groups and excersise groups. They are also available to you anytime.
The risks of surgery were well explained. I went into the surgery with a risk of blood clots because of severe veneous insufficiency. They explained I would get a blood thinner before... [Click here for more] and after surgery and would be in compression packs during and after.
Excellent.
This group has both and go well beyond the call.

He is cute!!! That caught your attention right? Ok really now... very professional and kind. Explains everthing very nicely and office seems very well organized. Very pleasant about any questions that I have. I know these two doctors have a fantastic reputation in the area. Have not attended their support groups yet myself but my father and husband did and they said they were fantastic. I will be changing my days off to be able to get there. Dr Breslaw explained the most common risks and made sure I understood everything that possibly could go wrong. I have no fear...I am in good hands. My first impression of Dr. Brelaw is that he is a kind and caring individual. He sat down with me and explained the whole process from applying to have the surgery to the follow up visits. Over time he has become more helpful by sharing ideas for increasing energy levels to finding a better source of protein for me. His office staff is fabulous, from the minute I walked through the door I was treated with the upmost respect. There is nothing I didn't like about Dr. Breslaw, he is a Great surgeon, person and friend. Dr. Brelaw emphasize's the aftercare of his patient's by patient education such as support groups, advising them of the wellness center that is available to you and making sure you have a complete understanding of your new and improved lifestyle.
