i was very impressed with Dr Wilcox the first time i meet him, he was very truthful and up front about the surgery,i was very comfortable from the first time i meet him, and still am, he was GREAT!!!his office staff was great, and very helpful, there was nothing i dislike about him.just be up front with him and ask as many questions about the surgery,he really is strict about the aftercare, and the liquid diet for 3 weeks.he went through the whole risk of the surgery, and what could happen.i would rate DrWilcox the highest you can give, he was the best and im so glad he was my surgeon, i would highly recommened Dr Wilcox if you are station at Ft Carson. his surgcial competence, bedside manner are both GREAT!!! I met with Dr. Wilcox on 14 Feb 06. He was a very polite, gentle, and understanding man. He asked me a lot of questions about my health and passed experiences with diets. As we talked, he told me that my BMI was at the Morbidly Obese Category and we needed to do something to correct that. And with all of the other health problems that I have, the Gastric Bypass Surgery would be a good way to go. So then he started explaining the process that I would have to start with to get ready for the surgery, the surgery itself, and then how things would be after the surgery. He told me that the surgery is a major surgery and there is, as with any major surgery, the possibility of dying(I think it was less than 1%). He also told me that it was very important to follow the aftercare instructions... [Click here for more] strictly so that the healing process would be very successful. And if you did not follow the instructions, you could do damage to the surgery and end back in surgery to repair the damage which could prolong your healy or cause death. But I was comfortable with everything that he told to me. I had done so much research on the surgery, that I already had a good idea about what he was going to say. But, the only thing that I did not expect was that I could not go on the waiting list for the surgery until I had completed all of the pre-op requirements, but I was still fine with that. So, after leaving his office, I started immediately setting up appointment to get the pre-op things done. I will have all of the pre-op things done by the end of March. At that time, I will go back to see Dr. Wilcox to do a follow-up and he will put me on the waiting list. I should be able to have the surgery in June or July. But all in all, I was very satisfied with Dr. Wilcox. He seemed like a very intelligent doctor on the surgical procedure and was just a nice person in general.

I was very impressed with Dr. Wilcox and the program at Evan's Hospital. They really make sure that you are educated before you decide to have the surgery right up until after the surgery. Dr. Wilcox answered all of my questions. I never once felt in the dark even now, after my surgery. Posted on 01/31/2006 |

He made guidelines very clear and I feel confident I can complete all he set.
The program and guidelines are reasonable and helpful to me to ensure the best outcome for my life change.
Dr. Wilcox is a great guy. Very serious but relaxing. He keeps to the facts and makes sure I understand everything. My father was impressed with him as well.
Evans Army Hospital has great staff and very caring.
The after care program is based on me, I get what I put into it, and they are there as needed, all we have to do is call. The support is outstanding. Posted on 12/29/2005 |
