I met Dr. de la Torre at my pre-op class. He came in and talked to us a little bit. He is a very confident surgeon, which I think is a good thing. I have heard others say that he was bragging on himself or blowing his own horn, but he has accomplished so much & it made me feel more comfortable knowing how much he has accomplished in his carreer. I feel totally comfortable having this surgery knowing that he will be doing it. No Doubts whatsoever.    Posted on 08/07/2008

I first met Dr. De La Torre on 7/25/08 in a class in Columbia,MO He seemed to be a very nice and funny man,but at the same time he is very serious about these surgeries and he really emphasizes the risks, what you have to do before/after surgery, aftercare and what to expect. He told us step by step what to expect the day of surgery and if he have any questions or problems, NOT to hesitate to call his office. That is what he is there for. I will let you know more after the surgery.    Posted on 07/26/2008

I really did not see much of him. I seen him for about 10 mins on the day of my orientantion when I found out my surgery date. Then I seen him for about 2 mins before my surgery and about 10 mins the day that my staples and drain were removed. However, I know for a fact that his office staff are an amazing group of women. His partner Dr Scott is nice as well. I would have to say that he is a great surgeon however you really do not get the chance to know him.    Posted on 07/23/2008

I am 5 years post op living back in my home state looking for a revision and hernia repair from a surgeon in Tulsa not Oklahoma City or Norman since one denied me medical treatment for allowing a surgeon to do life or death surgery on me.. I didn't fail surgery something went wrong and I have the proof just needs to be fixed. I started having issue after i had a baby in 2006    Posted on 07/16/2008

My first impression was he was very nice and professional. The office staff is the best. They went over the risks and patient education ad nauseum, which I guess is a good thing.    Posted on 07/11/2008

When I met Dr. De La Torre, I was immediately impressed. He was knowledgeable and had a great bedside manner. My impression remains the same. The office staff is great; very helpful. The only thing I can even remotely complain about it that there isn't enough of him to go around, so I had to see his associates a lot. Oh! And I have to drive 2 hours to get there. :( The program is very before AND aftercare oriented. They have specific criteria you MUST meet and they don't mind telling you that you are not a good candidate if you fail to comply. They are blunt and to-the-point with regard to risks and will not perform the surgery if you are not willing to do the things required to reduce the risks. LOVED HIM!! Surgical competence AND a great bedside manner are very important... [Click here for more]

My first Impression of Dr. De Le Torre was that he was a quiet, confidant man. Mr original surgeon was Dr. Scott but he left before my surgery was scheduled. After meeting with Dr. De Le Torre I felt confidant in proceeding as planned. I have only met the good doctor once. I am four weeks out and have had no complications so I am very pleased with his work so far. The office staff at Missouri Bariatrics have been incredibly supportive to me. Two persons in particular - Dr. Kevin Suttmoeller and nurse Natalie Suttlmoeller showing caring well beyond the standard doctor/patient relationship. I am very pleased with the staff and clinic and would recommend them to anyone. The only negative I can think of is that other office staff have been slow to respond to calls and e-mails. I... I've followed Dr. De la Torre for about 7 years now. I've attended many of his seminars over the years. He is very knowledgeable and confident in his skill as a surgeon. His staff is wonderful and Nancy Corbett is great. She makes you feel at ease and is willing to answer any questions you may have. I will update this after my surgery.    Posted on 12/04/2007

I really haven't met Dr. De La Torre face to face, but I have been to his seminar. Very soft-spoken and was poise in explaining about the procedure.    Posted on 09/22/2007
