I've only met Dr. Cunneen once and so far he seems like a nice man. I've heard a lot of good things about him. Posted on 07/21/2009 |

Ignored a friends severe depression after having the gastric bypass. Allowed my friend to become suicidal. To date has done nothing to help. Apparently the emotional state of the patient is not of importance. The social worker as well ignored our pleas to help my friend who has made at least 3 suicide attempts.
My friend thought very highly of Dr.Cunneen and told me that he was a very compassionate person. Listened to her concerns. Than she had the surgery and something happened to her emotional. Dr. Cunneen than did a 360 and turned his back on my friend.
I do not believe that this center should be a center of excellence. They have no after care to help address the issue.
Dr. Cunneen abandoned my friend recently because she could not afford her vitamins did not offer... [Click here for more] to help her find resources.

Abandoned my friend because she could not afford her vitamins. He is not the surgeon you would want to go to. He would prefer that she go to a drug dealer to get her vitamins. Posted on 06/04/2009 |

Before deciding on Dr. Cunneen I visited with two other surgeons that I considered because they were located much closer to home. After those visits there was no question as to who I wanted for my surgeon.
Dr. Cunneen is friendly and cheerful. He was my daughter's surgeon so I had met with him in that context before. My first appointment was with Dr. Furman due to Dr. Cunneens busy schedule. Dr. Furman does not perform the surgery but he is warm and kind and an excellent educator. (The kind of doctor you would love to have as your family physician).
The office staff are great, they are friendly and efficient. Everyone there is quick to smile. The pre-op education is excellent and thorough. I'm just beginning the aftercare portion but it is strongly encouraged that you... [Click here for more] keep all post-op appointments and attend support groups they have on location. Dr. Cunneen as well as the nurses went over all the risks of surgery and explained what I could expect. I would give him and his staff a rating of Excellent. I think that surgical competence is the most important but feeling good about your doctor and how he responds to you is an important factor to me also. I am 72 hours out of surgery (a little over 24 in the hospital and now home) and have been nicely surprised that I feel better than I expected. Thank You!

My first impression of Dr. Cunneen was that he seemed like a very patient person, he sat with me and we discussed the surgery what the likely outcome would be and he answered all of my questions patiently and throughly, I loved his office it is clean and well kept, the office staff (although busy) were courteous and professional at all times. The office staff is very helpful. They make sure you go through all the pre-op physicals and test before you surgery is approved. This was very improtant to me and helped me to decide to get the lap-band.
The wait can be kind of frustrating, so make sure you schedule all your test right away and have copies fax to Cedar Sinai's doctors office. Posted on 03/01/2008 |

I appreciated his direct manner. Good eye contact.
Gave me information, but respected that I had done tons of research and gave me credit for that. Posted on 07/15/2007 |

I went for my initial consult and feel so comfortable with Dr. Cunneen. He is informative, through and very pleasant. I probably asked a million and one questions and he answered every single last one to a T. The nurses and office staff were also wonderful to work with, as well. Posted on 03/15/2007 |
