I really like him. He is very up front and to the point and explains everything in terms you can understand not medical jargon. His staff was very fast in getting a surgery date. It took one month from the consult date to surgery. They took care of the insurance company and all paperwork, I just had to wait about 2 weeks to hear from insurance about approval. I finally had my surgery and Dr. Gooden was great. He was very compassionate and caring and took the time to answer all of my quiestions. He also has a great sense of humer. I really would reccomend him.    Posted on 11/20/2006

10/12/04 - I've met him about prior medicial evaluation for gallstones. He is nice. 12/13/04 - He agreed to do the surgery for me. He said I qualified and he knows I have done my research. My current medical problems make me more at risk, but like he says I'll die if I don't get the weight off. I told him I know that and willing to take the risk of surgery. 12-07-06 - I'm scheduled to have him do a hernia repair and possible TT.    Posted on 11/18/2006

I met with Dr. Stephen Gooden in 2004 the first time, then again in 2006. He is one of the most wonderful, caring Drs a person could ask for. First of all he is upfront and to the point about everything concerning your surgery. He tells you this is "NOT" a quick fix, it's just a tool that he is helping you to get, ultimately you have to use the tool to make it work. He truly cares about each individual he meets. He's not and "in" and "out" Dr. he sits there and answers all you questions until you are satisfied. He cares what you have to say. I would recommend him to anyone, at anytime. If you want the best then get Dr. Stephen Gooden...Augusta, Georgia~!!!    Posted on 03/17/2006

I have had consultations with several bariatric surgeons and Dr. Gooden has been the only one who I have trusted. He is straight to the point, informative, very experienced, yet really easy to talk to. His staff is warmest friendliest bunch of people I've ever met. Whenever I had a question and called, they were there and if they didnt have an answer right away, I didnt have to wait long.    Posted on 07/03/2005

I was so afraid that I wouldn't be able to have the surgery because of my size, that I wasn't overly concerned about who was doing it. As it turned out, God had my best interests in His hands, because Dr. Gooden is the best! He celebrates my victories with me. He's just very very caring and sensitive. I have been blessed. I believe the weight limit was 450lbs and is now 400lbs. I have not had any bad experiences with him or his staff. I was very thankful that they accepted my medicaid.    Posted on 03/06/2005

My surgery date has yet to be confirmed. My surgeon and I are trying to schedule it for December of 2004 due to my attending school for my Master's degree. Doctor's office has been a pleasure to work with and is extremely helpful.    Posted on 09/03/2004

I really liked Dr.Gooden. He was honest, but not rude and he really took time to explain things to me and listen to what I had to say.    Posted on 07/01/2004

When I initially met Dr. Gooden, my initial impression was, "Boy is he frank." Dr Gooden made sure that I had all the necessary info as far as the risks and the benefits of the surgery in order to make an informed decesion about the surgery. Donna, the lady that handles the WLS cases in his office was more than helpful(once she received the necessary information from the insurance company) The only issue that I had was the amount of time between my initial consulatation and the date that the predetermination letter was sent out.Overall, I think Dr. Gooden and his office are fabalous!    Posted on 05/04/2004
