I had my first appt. with Dr. Kim on 10/04/07. Him and his staff were all very friendly. One of the receptionist really need to gain a sense of humor though. In someways it seemed to me that the reception people look at us as a number and everyone is the same. This is a scary thing to start and it would be helpful to have friendly people. The nutritionist and nurse were very helpful and nice. Dr. Kim himself was very pleasant and informative. I'm sure I will have more on my next visit... 11/7/07.
UPDATE: Dr. Kim is great at what he does. Surgery turned out very good so far. His personality lacks a bit for bedside manors. Maybe he is just shy but he was highly recomended and I would recomend as well. Posted on 05/17/2008 |

I had my first office visit on March 20, 2008. I really liked Dr. Kim and the entire office staff. I saw Kerry the nutritionist and Mimi, the nurse, followed by Dr. Kim. I have my psych evaluation scheduled for April 10th and the next visit with Dr. Kim for May 1st.
Dr. Kim was very nice and this was my first meeting with him. He was very quiet and reserved but asked me if I had any questions which I didn't since I had just attended the informational seminar and have done quite a bit of research on here and other websites.
The program with Dr. Kim's Bariatric Center is quite extensive as are most of the others that I have found. I will be required to go to 3 Support Group meetings (with signed proof from the Leaders) prior to having the surgery, seeing the doctor/nutritionist... [Click here for more] ever 4-6 weeks, lose 5% of my body weight (15 pounds) prior to surgery, and see the Psychologist.

Dr Kim is very nice, he has a good bed side manner. He knows his stuff, and always takes time to talk and answer all questions. I feel very confident in him, he truly takes pride in his paitents well being. The office staff has been super so far! I co-chair a support group in Liverpool. We meet every second and forth Thursday of the month. The group is for pre and post ops...everyone is welcome!! Posted on 06/27/2007 |

I met with Dr. Kim today for the first time. I really liked him. He was personable and he made me feel comfortable asking questions. Although he answered most of my questions before I even asked them...so he covered all the important things. One of my first impressions was that I could call with my concerns after surgery, which was a relief.
He is part of a Bariatric Team at Upstate in Syracuse. The team consists of 2 other surgeons, a nutritionist, a nurse practioner and a host of support staff. They have monthly support groups on-site and a calendar with other support groups in the area. I feel as if I'll be well taken care of. Posted on 06/07/2007 |

My first impression of him is that he is very knowledgable. He's straigth forward with his information and doesn't beat around the bush.
As of now, he only performs Laproscopic RNY's and not open. I think he does Lap banding also. Posted on 12/01/2006 |

My first impression of Dr. Kim is that he was young and not too talkative. That made me somewhat nervous.
My impression of him changed because I knew that he knew what he was doing and was very qualified. Even though he may appear serious, he really is a great guy and cares. No question is too small!
Dr. Kim's staff is remarkable. His nurse Marci has to be one of the greatest nurses I've ever met. She is so easy to talk to...kindof like a second mom.
The thing I liked least about Dr. Kim would be that I would always get his first and last name mixed up (at first).
Dr. Kim is so easy to talk to...don't be afraid to ask anything. He doesn't make you feel uncomfortable at all. He's a great surgeon.
Dr. Kim emphasizes aftercare a great bit. The have several post-op... [Click here for more] visits that you must go to so that they know that you're doing okay. They fit you in even if they're booked.
The do have a set after care program to follow
Dr. Kim's staff addressed the risks of surgery quite a bit. They really make sure that you are ready for this surgery before you commit.
I would rate Dr. Kim a perfect 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. His office did an outstanding job on me and I couldn't be more happier.
As far as surgical competence or bedside manner is involved...they are both great.

So far, Dr. Kim has been very nice. He seems very concerned and takes his time to answer any questions I may have. He has done many of these surgeries, and I am confident of his ability! His staff seems very nice, although you occasionally have to "nudge" them along to send information to the insurance company. Posted on 03/04/2006 |
