My first impression of Dr. Brown is that he had a dry sense of humor which I loved. I found him to be very knowledgeable and approachable. I had my RNY surgery 1/11/10. Dr Brown did a fine job. I have had good interactions with his staff. There is nothing I liked least about Dr. Brown. I would definitely recommend Dr. Brown to others. I had a friend who had Dr. Brown do her surgery 11/17/09 and she had lots of complications and I had my pouch well shut after surgery, but every PATIENT is different and I don't think those things were a reflection on Dr. Brown. I have an aftercare appt with Dr. Brown next week, then I go back to Kaiser. He did STRONGLY recommend following up with all the after care and attending support groups. I would rate Dr. Brown as excellent. I loved Dr. Brown. Posted on 01/20/2010 |

My first impression of Dr.Brown is that he was confidant. His staff has been very helpful and fun to be around the past six months. Dr. Brown did my husband's surgery on the 23rd of Nov. 09 and everything went extreamly well. He got the lap band and today he walked 2 miles and can't believe how easy this has been on him.I would say that Dr. Brown's surgical competance is better than the bedside manner, but we shall see if that changes with my surgery. Overall I would recommend his practice to anyone looking for a surgeon. The nurses at the hospital made several good comments about Dr. Brown so that helped me with the fearful part. Dr. Brown is very calm, laid back, moves kind of slow, talks slow. Listens to every question and I never felt rushed for a second. Answered every question I had on my lengthy list of questions. Posted on 04/10/2009 |

I adore Dr. Thomas Brown. He's like Mr. Bean in a way. Dry humor, smiling eyes. I really felt at ease. He just sort of casually sauntered in and started explaining things. He answered all of my questions like we had been friends for years. No nonsense, no little rays of sunshine, just honest to goodness truth.
But sadly, that is as far as the good times roll. I had some complications after surgery. At only 2 1/2 months out, my port stitches came loose and Dr. Brown refused to fix it for free. This should have been covered!!! It was less than 90 days out from surgery and typically any complicationsd (surgical errors) are remedied by the MD at no charge. This was not the case. My new MD even agrees that he should have been responsible and liable to fix the port stitches.
I was... [Click here for more] informed by the billing office at CBSI that since I paid the discounted cash pay price of $9900.00 that no complications would be covered.
This was NOT in the paperwork I signed. NEVER in any of the contracts did it say that since I was paying the lowest fee, I would be getting the lowest quality of car and the lowest amount of service.
I have since transferred care to closer to home. I would NOT recommend going to Dr. Brown as a cash pay patient or if you do, get the additional insurance for cash pay patients that is advertised on this site. If I would have done that, this would not be an issue. I'm going to have to pay an additional $4000 dollars that I don't have to replace the work that should have been covered under the 90 global. This stinks!!!

Surgery complete & out of hospital! Dr Brown was very calming to talk to. He even made me smile while I was laying in the pre-op holding area. The anesthiaologist was super nice. Since it was my first surgery ever, he explained alot of things to me. He also put these little stickers behind my ears for nausia. I'm super glad that I picked Dr. Brown for my WLS.
My 3 hour consult with the staff went smoothly. Alot of the questions between the psych eval and nutritionist were duplicated. However, can't complain. I liked getting alot of the appointments done in one building. The receptionist in Dr. Browns office seemed to be new. She kind of acted like she didn't know what she was doing. Dr.Brown is very professional and to the point. He is very intelligent, and knows his stuff regarding WLS. The staff is very fast and efficent. They know what they are doing and how to make the process fast and painless. This bariactric center has a great system, you come in for a 3 hour appointment and they do psych, diet and surgeon consults in one day. They do another appointment for nutrition and then your scheduled. VERY EFFICENT!
The whole office is very supportive. Posted on 01/25/2009 |

I had my first RNY 4/03. I really wasn't prepared and didn't have much teaching. I did well for about 6 months then boom!! Regained some weight. Will now have a revision done with Dr.Brown in NOvember! Can't wait. He seems nice enough, his partner, Dr. Metz is hilarious and very outgoing and friendly!! Office staff...not quite as good...Oh well. Posted on 10/09/2008 |

Dr. Brown is the most approachable, down to earth and informative surgeon I interviewed. His staff is also informative and very kind. His pre-surgery information is detailed and helpful and his LCSW Liz is great! Updated 9-14-08 I am now almost 3 weeks post op and have nothing but positive things to say. Dr. Brown, his team and all of the staff at PSL took very good care of me. The only suggestion I would have would be a more extensive orientation with more details regarding the post operative diet. The dieticians are extremely helpful and return all calls IMMEDIATELY post op. Cheral at the front desk is very knowledgable about the surgery process and can offer great advice so you're not tracking down a nurse. Melinda the billing lady also is very helpful and knows dates of... [Click here for more] your surgery, type and lets you know what to expect as far as billing from the hospital. The follow up with Dr. Brown is wonderful, because he remembers you...is very concerned about how you're doing and wants you to succeed. The office isn't anything fancy, but is warm. They provide life changing surgeries, and are all invested in the service they provide. I am long winded because you deserve to know that if you choose Dr. Brown you have chosen a great team. I self paid, and am completely grateful and more than satisfied for the high quality I was given and continue to receive. This ALSO includes the hospital at PS/L. I am on OH if you have any questions.

So far, so good!
I visited the office yesterday and was greeted warmly by Sherill who works the front office.
All the staff that I saw were very friendly and I didn't feel rushed or that any question was stupid.
Dr. Brown was friendly in a matter of fact kind of way. He answered all my questions and I left excited about my surgery. Posted on 07/25/2008 |

I had some unfortunate complications that required a 2nd emergency surgery. Dr. Brown was great not only during the entire process but his skill level was excellent in that he went through the same laporscopic incisions created during the initial surgery. I could not have asked for anyone better. Posted on 07/24/2008 |
