08/25/2008 - Dr. Eibes' office has received all of the documentation they need to move forward. Now it's up to them to put together my preapproval packet and ship it to my insurance company. I pray that the packet is put together quickly and that the insurance company doesn't make me jump thru more hoops to get approval. I am SO ready for the surgery and to start my journey to a new me!
07/14/2008 - I attended my first support group on Saturday. Dr. Eibes did a Q&A time and Janelle did a presentation about choosing the right foods at the grocery store. It was a good session - I left feeling more confident about my decision to pursue WLS, that I am with the right group of people to help me through all of it (DSM Bariatrics), and that I can do this!
07/04/2008 - I had my... [Click here for more] initial consult with Dr. Eibes yesterday. He was very matter of fact and real about obesity and the chances of my being able to lose the amount of weight that I need to without surgery. He answered all of my questions and I left the office feeling confident that I am making the best decision for my health.

Dr. Eibes seems like a very business like person. I can tell he likes what he does and you can also tell he cares about his patients. Dr. Eibes was very helpful to me after surgery and at the office visit. I had many questions about my after care and he was very patient with me and very informative. Posted on 07/20/2008 |

My first impression of Dr Eibes was how nice and caring he was. It takes a very caring person to do what he is doing. My impression has never changed. Dr Eibes's office staff is very friendly and they help out in anyway they can. There is nothing I can say bad about Dr. Eibes. I would like to let anyone who is thinking about going to him not to be afraid he knows what he is doing and he cares. He has a few steps he wants his patients to do before he schedules surgery but it is worth it. Dr. Eibes really wants you to do what he asks because he knows what he is talking about and it helps your recovery go very good. Dr. Eibes makes sure you under stand all risks involved. I would rate Dr. Eibes and the rest of his staff an A+ they are the best. Both are great he is just a loving and... [Click here for more] caring man...

All I can say is I absolutely LOVE Dr Eibes. When I was in the hospital I heard nothing but great things about him and his team. He is very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable through the entire pre op and surgery journey. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. He was the head of Bariatric's in anothe town and we are blessed he decided to come to Des Moines and open his own Bariatric Center. His team offers extensive aftercare along with having an exercise expert. Dr Eibes seems to be somewhat shy but he makes up for it in his surgical competence. Posted on 04/12/2008 |

So far I am impressed with Dr. Eibes. He attends the monthly support groups on Saturdays and is always open and available for questions.
Dr. Eibes also seems passionate about wls. His passion and belief in the surgery kind of flows over to me and that just makes me feel like he believes in me.
Tomorrow is my surgery so I guess I'll put him to the test. :) Posted on 03/30/2008 |

He is easy to talk to and ask questions. I very much had the feeling of personalization, that I was not just a number.
The office staff is great. The front desk person is a bit abrupt but not horribly so. It does make her a bit unapproachable.
Not sure on the least part, nothing sticks out at this time as being a negative.
Very structured aftercare program. One of the selling points for me to have the surgery.
Risks, were discussed straight forward and he did not avoid any questions asked of him. He provided all his statistics up front in the 2 hour class.
Overall, I'd say he was an 8 on a scale of 1-10.
I would say surgical competence is better than bedside manner. Tho his bedside manner if not bad. Posted on 06/26/2007 |

The first time I met Dr. Eibes, I was completely at ease. He has a wonderful personality, a true understanding of what overweight people go through such as criticism and prejudice. He has an awesome aftercare program with a great support group, dietician, exercise program, all of his staff are friendly and helpful!! He now has a plastic surgeon and psychologist on board as well! Posted on 06/10/2007 |
