Dr Chlysta was very understanding. I didn't feel like just a number. I think he cares very much for his patients. I love the staff. They are always wonderful to me. Cathy was a dream when I had to go back twice. She made the ordeal much easier. My only complaint is that I seem to lose slowly. They are totally about the aftercare. Yes it is structured. Yes, you sign a bunch of forms stating that you understand the risks. On a scale of 1-10, he is a 9. I will say both.    Posted on 05/01/2009

Dr. Chylsta's Bariatric program through Akron General Hospital is a true team approach. I was shocked at how thorough all of the pre-op activies were. It was great to know that he was making sure that on all fronts I was really ready for the surgery. My tests included meeting with a psychologist and taking a personality test, a sleep test (for Apnea), Blood gases, EKG, Pap test, mammogram, Pulmonary function, et. al. It was really a marathon to get everything done - but it was also wonderful to know that everyone was there to help and dedicated to making it happen. They worked around my travel schedule, did marathon scheduling and were flexible in every way they could be. I also met with a dietician and a support group to help prepare me for the surgery and the changes I... [Click here for more]

My first impression of Dr Chlsta was that he seemed genuinly concerned about my issues. He answered every question I had, and even explained why I needed to go through 6 months of medically supervised weight loss with my PCP. At first I thought, this is a bunch of crap, I wanted my surgery NOW. In the past 4 months, I have learned why this is so imprtant to WLS patients. I need to understand this is a life change. I needed to realize I have to change my eating habits, what I eat and how much of it I eat. I have since met with every member of his staff, Kim, Kelli, Kathy, Dr Gilbertson, and Nicole. These people are just as wonderful as Dr Chlysta. They make sure I am staying on track and are there for patients every step of the way. I am hoping to have surgery in March and I know that... My first impression of Dr Chlysta was amazement at how young he seemed. Over time I realized that even though he seems youthful, he is not only a very capable doctor, he is genuinely concerned for the health of his patients. Rose in Dr Chlysta's office was very helpful in getting my insurance company to approve my surgery and in helping me follow all of the steps to get ready for my year long journey. Dr Chlysta can seem to be a little clinical at first, but this is not the case. He is a warm caring doctor. Future patients should know that he is very thorough about presurgical and postsurgical care. Dr Chlysta reiterated over and over about what the risks were as well as the benefits of this life altering surgery. I would very much recommend him to prospective patients.... [Click here for more]

My first impression was that he was very kind and took alot of time going over everything. Each visit, during the 6 month process to get approved and all the tests done, he was very helpful and positive. He called me at home to tell me results of tests which impressed me. I always had my questions answered, even the ones that seemed silly. When I had surgery, he was great and I felt very well taken care of. The aftercare was excellant and the support that the entire office gives is so great. They all gave encouragement each step of the way. THe Support group has been very helpful. I highly recommend Dr. Chlysta and his Bariatric team.    Posted on 04/24/2008

I first met Dr. Chlysta at one of his informational meetings. I was extremely impressed with how open and up front he was about his experiences as a surgeon and his statistics regarding his gastric bypass surgeries. Dr. Chlysta very openly addressed all of the risks and benefits of gastric bypass surgery at this informational meeting. As I got to know him, I realized that he is quite passionate about his patients and he tells it exactly like it is. He holds back nothing. While this can be annoying, it's one other reason that I chose Dr. Chlysta to do my surgrey. Sometimes we all need to hear the truth, even if it's not pretty! One of his drawbacks is that he tends to run late with his appointments. I always make my appointments early in the afternoon, when he is not yet... [Click here for more]

Dr. Chlysta and staff were very attentive and professional. He is approachable and down to earth. He is up front and honest about the surgical risks. His nurse, Kathy, is caring and educated on WLS. They are really trying hard to stand out as a relatively "new" program. The support groups are arranged at conveinent times and seem to address a variety of issues.    Posted on 07/14/2007

He is awesome, and very friendly. i have loved working with him. he and his staff are a great part of my weightloss success. I would and do recomend him quite frequently. His after care program is structured for me not to or against me. I would rate dr chlysta as the best...    Posted on 03/25/2007

Dr. Chlysta was very friendly and outgoing, he is willing to work with you on any problems that come up and attends our support group meetings. The office staff is wonderful, always friendly and they help you schedule everything. Aftercare if strongly emphasized and there is a structured program to follow but it is outlined on paper and is easy to follow. The risks of surgery were addressed and to a level that I could understand, he even has charts to help explain. I was even told if any question came up after my appointments that I was allowed to call. His surgical competence and bedside manner were outstanding!    Posted on 03/19/2007

My first impression of Dr. Chlysta was, Am I older than he is? Did he just graduate high school. But After I met him, I was very impressed, went to one of his information session's, he explained everything in great detail, answered all of our questions, he even stayed for the support group meeting, what impressed me the most, at this paticular support group meeting, he had a Physiciolagist there teaching us Pre-& Post OP exercises, he helped him pass out the bands & even did the exercise's with us!!! I said this is the one for me (you LEAD by example). His office staff is great, Cathy his RN & coordinator knows her stuff!!! Rose is an ANGEL!!! He told my husband & myself all the risk up front!! Yes, there is a structured program, he has a Coordinator, Cathy RN, Nutrionalist,... [Click here for more]
