I met Dr. Chapman at my first visit this past Thursday. I loved him! He is straight... to the point. He explained everything to me and is obviously very knowledgable. Posted on 10/11/2008 |

I learned of Dr. Chapman on the internet site for the Bariatrics program at The Brody School of Medicine. He performed the RNY on the site and I was very impressed with his confidence and competence. When I call to inquire, the staff treated me like a family member returning home. He has been very professional, very thorough, very informative, and very patient. :) His staff and aftercare program is very reassuring and professional. He was very frank about the benefits and risks of the surgery, and the prognosis if I did or did not have the surgery. I have every confidence in him and am thankful to be in his hands tomorrow morning, when I have my surgery. I think it is important to be competent, professional, balanced with a caring friendly, firm and frank manner. He is all of these... [Click here for more] things.

My first impression of Dr. Chapman was that he was a very skilled surgeon, not just in bariatrics. He is my husband's surgeon (for colorectal cancer). Dr. Chapman and his staff have always been upfront and very honest with both of us.
Dr. Chapman is a very busy physician but will stop and talk/answer questions that you have; just be prepared when he comes in the room.
Aftercare is extremely important for WLS patients and he is very upfront about that with his patients. If you are not going to follow the program, then think twice about having this surgery. Only you can make it a success. No one can do that for you.
The risks of the surgery were discussed in detail several times prior to surgery. It was mandatory that your support person attend one of these visits.... [Click here for more] Everything was explained to my husband and he was given the opportunity to ask questions and feel comfortable with my decision to have WLS.
I would rate Dr. Chapman and his staff a 10 out of 10!
You won't go wrong with him.

I met my surgeon last August. He was very blunt and to the point. He told me exactly what he expected out of me and what I was in for. I percieved him to be very professional. His staff is very professional also and they were sure to let me know they were there for any questions I had. There is nothing I didn't like about my surgeon, if I did I'm not so sure I would trust him to perform my surgery, but I do. He strongly emphasized the care I need before AND after surgery, leaving out any unanswered questions. They have a very well structured aftercare program that I am definitely going to follow. He told me all my risks whether I decide or not decide to do this. Overall on a scale of 10 I would rate Dr. Chapman a 10. Surgical competence is very important, if you cant believe in someone... Dr.Chapman is a nice very down to earth tell it like it is man.when i went for my 2 week check -up i saw one of his partners but i heard him drop something in the hallway and he said aw shit i about died laughing he is so funny. also he was extremley busy and he stop what he was doing to come take a picture with me that is how much he cares about his patients i have not one bad thing to say about him.The office staff is great they answer any question you have even the embarrassing ones!Dr.Chapman and his staff try their hardest to let you know what needs to be done and how it needs to be done to keep you healthy. You must walk walk walk they keep telling me even after 6 weeks you are at risk of blood clots so anyone wanting to have this surgery remember it isn't a walk in the park!...well... [Click here for more] actually it is as far as walking is concerned. e-mail if you want to know anything else atsweetalane@aim.com

I actually saw Dr. Chapman perform gastric bypass surgery as a nursing student so I'm confident in his abilities. I'm impressed with his statistics and his staff is wonderful.
First impression was he was confident and informative.
My impression has not changed.
His office staff is very helpful.
Least thing to like is how busy the man is.
Future patients need to know He has cool music during surgery :)
I'll be able to anwer the other questions after surgery.
Update post op! Wonderful surgeon, so blessed the good Lord gave him the ability to perform this surgery, it has changed my life. Posted on 10/03/2007 |

My first impression of Dr. Chapman was wonderful. He was great. He answered every question I had in detail. His office staff was fantastic and loving. He makes you feel like a human being and he was always checking on me in the hospital. His bedside manner was wonderful. I recommend Dr. William Chapman, MD to anyone who is having the surgery. I was so nervous at first but he eased my mind so fast before surgery. He is one hell of a doctor and a very smart and informative one. Posted on 08/26/2007 |
