After starting at the Vermont Program I have had to change over to NH Program. Dr. Laycock is the head of the program there but as there are 4 surgeons I'm not exactly sure who I will be having. I figure placing his name here is a good start. I've heard nothing but good things about the NH Program and hoping to get through things with little difficulty. Posted on 08/29/2008 |

He gave the fealing of the only one who was in charge infact his motto was do it my way o dont get the surgery. I have only seen him once sence my surgery in december of 2006. I have tried to get an appointment with him because my surgery has failed. I am not out to blame anyone for the failure I just need to know if its me or the surgery. Every time I have called they refuse to put me threw to Dr. Laycocks office for an appointment. I am always told that I have to talk with the nutritionist, which would be fine but she doesn't understand me and she seems to want to blame me for the surgery failure, and shes doing this without an examination from my Doctor. I cant get threw for an appointment and I am looking for someone to help me. I am having a hard time finding another surgeon... [Click here for more] to examine me. I have good insurance but they seem to not want to get involved with a failed surgery. I also live in Vermont where there is only one choice for a different surgeon. I do admit I was having many problems with depression before my surgery, I was under a tremendous amount of stress and I really wasn't myself going threw the program. I know they recognized there was a problem but it was to late. I feel in such a lonely place I am begging for help but know one is answering. Thank you, Lucille

I had a great experience with Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Dr. Laycock was my surgeon. I had laproscopic GB on 11/29/06. The program at DHMC was fantastic. They are very thorough and Dr. Laycock was wonderful. There were many hospitals closer to home that I could have gone to but I chose to drive out of the way to attend the program at DHMC because of its reputation and I'm glad I did.
The only "bad" experience I had was that while I was in the hospital they didn't set me up with my sleep apnea machine which was not good, my oxygen levels were really low and it was like I couldn't wake up but as soon as they hooked me up to it I felt much better.
I would recommend DHMC to anyone interested. They don't let you just jump in and get the surgery, they... [Click here for more] work with you to make sure you are well educated and prepared for what this really changes in your life.

My first impression was that he was straight and to the point. He was a little to fast but I managed to slow him down a little.
I had heard from others what a terrific surgeon he is. Very focused and dedicated.
Not only did he explain the risks/pros and cons of the sugery but he also demonstrated w/ the handbook. to show me where the info was.
Surgical competence and honesty is my pet peeve. He seems to have all of that... Posted on 07/28/2006 |

Dr. Laycock is very professional and right to the point. I never felt rushed for time and was asked over and over if I had any questions. He emphasized that the outcome is what you let it be. This procedure is a tool and the work is up to the patient. Dr. Laycock also stressed the risks that were involved as well as the pro's. Michelle, the surgeon's secretary is wonderful and very helpful. Posted on 08/16/2003 |

When I first met Dr. Laycock, I thought he was kind of abrupt. He questions my height and spoke to his nurses that the report was different that the actual height I was. He came off as a stickler of accuracy. I still wanted him to perform the surgery, mainly because I felt he was the best at Dartmouth Hitchcock. During and following the surgery I found him to even more professional that I could have ever hoped for. His residents are just as equally skilled and professional in nature. If I had any questions or complications, one of them was there for me. Every day I was in the hospital, I saw Dr. Laycock personally, this in itself impressed me. I have had numerous operations for other things and have found Dr. Laycock to be one of the most conscientious and skilled surgeons I have... [Click here for more] ever encountered. Anyone being operated on by him is in extremely good hands. I HIGHLY recommend him!!!

I was lucky enough to have my appointment with the surgeon moved up a week. Dr. Laycock was pleasant and thorough in explaining all the benefits and risks of bariatric surgery. I felt very confident with the responses I received from him. I am having laproscopic surgery and the doctor was very honest in his explanations of complications that could possibly occur.
The entire staff at Dartmouth Hitchcock is awesome. The doctor's office staff has been helpful from day one. I have been pursing this goal for almost a year now and from my first support group meeting till my surgery appointment-Feb.24, 2003 I have had nothing but encouragement and helpfulness from all. After the initial consultation, I can say that Dr. Burchard gave a realistic overview of the operation. He was very upbeat. I wasw disappointed when I asked him about a DGB w/D/S and he said that he didn't perform that operation. Evidently, all he does is RNY operations. From what I've read, the Distal Gastric Bypass has very minimal side effects. I really have no choice as this operation is being done through the VA and Dr. Burchard is the surgeon the VA recommends. It's the only way I can afford the surgery.
I've switched over to William Laycock so I can have my surgery laproscopically! I'm very excited. I've wanted it that way all along. Dr. Laycock very comforting but professional and I got a sergery date after the first visit! Posted on 12/10/2002 |
