Both DR.Buras and Dr.Afram were great they work together as a team. Great bedside manner. My impression has not changed they treat with the upmost respect. The staff at the office are very freindly,and helpfull.
I can not say I did not like anything about them. They should know that they are very professional. You are always being reimined about aftercare it is almost like a drill. Yes the aftercare program is very structured. From the fist visit through out the whole process. I rate Both Dr Buras& Dr Afram With an A+++

I had my first meeting today, a seminar, with Dr. Afram and Dr. Buras. I have to say I am hooked. These two doctors know what they are doing and the best way to do it.
I don't think I have ever felt such comforting confidence. These doctors really care for the patient and they are not going to paint you a wonderful picture. They let you know everything up front and don't push the sale, so to speak.
The cold hard truth about bariatric surgery is that it is very risky. You have to decide if you feel that the risks outweigh the benefits or if the surgery is right for you. At least Dr. Afram and Dr. Buras will tell you the whole truth. There are NO Guarantees. They won't paint a pretty picture, but they will tell you the whole truth about the possibilities,... I was also comforted by the extent of the pre-operative testing. It is better to be aware of what complications could be possible so you are better prepared to deal with them should they occur.
At the Center for Obesity Surgery, Dr. Afram and Dr. Buras offer a very comprehensive, life-long program that includes weekly support group meetings, a dietician, a psychologist, a personal trainer and most importantly, life-long follow up care with your surgeon.
I really couldn't ask for more.

Dr. Buras seems a bit mild mannered, but I was impressed with the facility and all the services pre- and post-op that they offer.
Dr Afram & Dr. Buras believe in "for life" aftercare.
You have to pay a (for me) substantial deposit up front.
But this covers every visit in the future.
You are never billed again for an office follow up.
He wants to see you every month for the first 6 months, then every 3 months the rest of the year, then every 6 months for ever.
(Others will probably find the amount easy to deal with, I just don't have it in savings, so it is harder.)
The have a nutritionist, therapist, private trainer all on staff. They also work with Life Coaches.
The front desk staff is very good.
Sally is very nice and ALWAYS remembers me and my sister.
Given how... [Click here for more] many patients they must have, I find that very impressive.
Mandy (the insurance specialist) totally rocks.
I got a denial letter in error (someone at the insurance company put the wrong federal ID number for the hospital in my records) and Mandy was all over them.
She doesn't take no for an answer!!!

* Excellent. Very knowledgable and concerned. The people at the office were so helpful and kind. I never minded getting a call from them or felt like I was a burden to them with all my questions. The came to visit me at the hospital and Dr.Buras was constantly checking in on my progress and even gave me his personal cell phone when there were days I wasn't feeling too hot. I was very happy with Dr. Buras. He is very warm and professional. He made me feel at ease and made sure I had no questions or concerns about the surgery.

Dr. Buras is an outstanding surgeon and Doctor overall. He showed great interest in my recovery from post-op until this very day (8 months out). I guess I really didn't know what first impression I should have of him. I was more concern about getting through surgery first. However, during my recovery, I have come to realize that I have the best Doctor in Washington, DC. Dr. Buras always made himself available to me if I had questions or concerns, as well as his staff who were just as kind and knowledgeable about certain stages a bypass patient would experience. Overall, my experience has been a mere textbook recovery for me during its every stage. I have recommended two friends of mind who have had the surgery and share the same experience as I do. His level of after care is... [Click here for more] highly exceptional. I have met many people who recently have had the surgery. Some where sent home without any instructions or follow-up appointments, which have led them back to the hospital for emergency care. Dr. Buras strick demanding after care has helped be stay on track to become one of his most successful patients in the area. His program provides weekly support group with a certified nutritionist and Psychologist. He is a wonderful person as well as surgeon. He celebrates with every pound lost. He truly cares and is very demanding for his patients while under his care, especially during your hospital stay. He's interested in implementing procedures that will continue to enhance his patients recovery back to feeling 100 percent. For example, during my 4 month in post, I was feely extremely fatigued all the time. My primary care physican ran tests and found my B12 levels were very low. However, Dr. Buras highly required his patients to take Trinsicon pills daily to maintain B12 levels. Well, I was not absorbing anything from this pill, and began taking B12 shots monthly. I informed Dr. Buras of this and he has began recommending this to his patients after recognizing that other patients were encountering the same effects. He's proactive in his aftercare program and is not afraid to take the program to another level if it will help his patients. One more thing. If you've experienced sitting in the Doctor's office waiting past your scheduled appointment, you will no longer have to experience that with Dr. Buras. HE'S ALWAYS ON TIME! Honestly, I have not experienced or witnessed anything negative about Dr. Buras or his staff. I have truly enjoyed this life changing experience and feel that you will come to share my thoughts having chose Dr. Buras and following ALL his instructions.

Dr. Buras is very attentive and has a good bed side manner. I never had any complications ... but I was a little depressed afterwards but now it's been five weeks after my surgery and I feeling much better and it's the best thing I've ever done ... I don't have any regrets. The office staff (Mandy and Sally) were very good with any paperwork that was needed for my job ... they are the best.
