I have been working with Dr. Averbach as a surgical technologist for about a year now. After working with 4 other Bariatric surgeons, I can honestly say that he is the best I've seen so far at bariatrics and laparascopic surgery. His office staff has been very friendly and helpful. I look forward to the rest of my experience. Posted on 04/13/2009 |

I have to say as time goes on with Dr. Averbach, I am more and more impressed with him. He will always answer my emails extremely promptly and answers any and all questions I have no matter how trival, Dr. Averbach is the best!
I just wanted to add, that dr. averbach seems stern when you talk to him but I found out at my two week postop followup visit he has a dry sense of humor! Posted on 03/23/2009 |

when I first met Dr. Averbach in June of 2005 I knew he was the doctor for me. I liked how he just got to the point and he told it like it was .I needed to have someone other then family to help me . The staff was so helpful in answering questions I was afraid for the surgery but he came in and held my hand until I was asleep then I woke up in my room he came to check on me and I remember I was in pain but not to much and he told me this is your new life . My life would not be anything without him . I think I would be dead now if I did not get my surgery .After my surgery he and his staff taught me how to deal with pain how to make sure to eat even though you are not hungry. It is easy to not eat because of the small pouch . I would like to say Dr. Averbach is the top king of bariatric... [Click here for more] surgery and I love him for giving me my life back .Every time I see him I smile

straight and to the point. I like him alot.
He has no need to sugar coat things, just to the point.
Dr Averbach found a hernia that was repaired while he did my lapband surgery. The day after I was scared from the pain, I paged him and explained my issues. He talked me through them and told me what I needed to do. The next day to called me to check up on me and to make sure I was ok. THAT WAS IMPRESSIVE!!!
Most doctors will tell you what to do and if it dont work go to the hopsital and never call you back to check up.. He went out of his way to make sure I am ok. KUDOS!!! Posted on 02/27/2009 |

During my visits to Dr. Averbachs office I give nothing but praise to his office staff.I was only involved with his staff just slightly prior to surgery except for one person. Her name is Chantel, his surgery scheduler. Due to medical issues my surgery was resheduled at the last moment the first time. I must say I cried so much however, Chantel tried to reassure me that "everything would be alright." After calming me down with soothing/caring words she then proceeded to let me know "alright Rhonda, now that you have calmed down let me find out what's going on." She then took the time to contact my other physicians and see who and why cancelled my surgery. As soon as she got all the information together I was the next one she called back. I must say...long story short her professionalism... [Click here for more] and her caring and kind spirit helped me get through this crucial time while also taking care of a very possible serious health problem.
I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Averbach. During my stay at St. Agnes Hospital he was very professional yet caring and calming to. Sometimes when visted by drs in a hospital one is given the impression that they are just a number and the dr comes in and leaves so fast you aren't sure if they were actually there or not. However Dr. Averbach while in my room focused on ME, not the interns, not the tv, not himself, but me. He made sure I understood what he was saying in laymans terms what I didnt understand in medical terms. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.

I knew about Dr. Averbach because I work in the same hospital. I didn't know him personally, but I knew he had a good reputation. Now, since he knows that I work at the same hospital he knows who I am and when he sees me he always addresses me and asks me how things are going. The more I got to know him the more I liked him. He makes me feel like an individual instead of just another patient. He has a lot of compassion towards people with obesity. He shows how much he wants to help and this made me feel very comfortable with him. His office staff were very helpful and very friendly. Patients in this area should know that he got the Center of Excellence Award. I know that people from other states go to him. I did have a structure aftercare program. Going to his seminars and support... [Click here for more] groups I new the risks of surgery. I would rate him 100% the best. I think both surgical competence and bedside manners are very important to a patient. He made me feel very positive about the surgery.

When I went to the information session I thought Dr. Averbach was very serious and very honest. I was a little nervous about meeting him for my consultation because every review I read talked about how serious he was (basically it sounded like he didn't have a personality at all!). However, he was VERY friendly when I met him, he definitely takes his job seriously, which he should! But I found him very personable and I'm looking forward to having him as my surgeon. My first impression of Dr. Averbach was one of wisdom, dedication and sincerity. My impression has grown into admiration for what he does and why. His staff takes the time to hear you and know your needs. Well the thing I liked least about him he has changed. He stopped smoking recently! Future patients should know what he knows what he is doing and will not sugar coat anything that he tells you. He a stickler for staying connected after the surgery. He highly encourages you to stay in touch with the nutritionist as well as the psychologist. He requires that you meet with him often and bring your food diary in with you. He congratulates you on what you have accomplished and reminds you of what is still left. Before having surgery he laid it all on the table with the "what... [Click here for more] if's" and how this is life changing. He spoke on how he refused to operate on those who were not willing to exercise and eat right after the surgery or ones who didn't have good experiences with the psychologist. On a scale of 1-10 I give him a 9.5, because sometimes he can be harsh in explaining things. However he means no harm in it; just want you to understand what you are getting into. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both excellent!!!

He's a very serious person. I knew that this was a serious step I was about to take and I was glad that Dr. Averbach was a no nonsense type of person...This a life choice, not a game...Everbody to me was okay...they could have been a little more friendly...I like Dr. Averbach...have all good things to say about him...at least 4 right now...He explains all the end and outs of the surgery and the importance of the aftercare...On a scale from 1 to 10, I rate him a 9 1/2...His surgical competence impressed me the most... My first impression of Dr. Averbach was that he is professional and listens to patient well.Very serious but as time goes on he cracks little jokes. The office staff is great no matter how often you call ,they are willing to help anyway possible.I liked least that he couldn't provide much insight to other illness in refferance to WLS.So you must see your regular doctor as soon as possible also. The aftercare program is good.Overall I would give him a nine. Both were great surgical competence and bedside manner.
