My experiences with DR. FREZZA have been as follows : He has had several malpractice suits now, and some pending. He has tucked his tail and run, from the patients he screwed up, closed his office and left Lubbock behind. No-one seems to know where he's hiding. He has left a lot of damage behind. We now know that he really botched my lap band surgery, and is not around to take responsibility for it. The lap-band he put in was THE WRONG SIZE and is TOO LARGE even fully filled to help in ANY WAY. I have lost 1 pound, in overa year, the band is now caught somewhere between the stomach and esophagus, but is NOT ACUTUALLY ON THE STOMACH, and may never have been . Frezza is a moneygrubber, he gained $18,000 for NOT doing what he go paid for and i'm sure i'm NOT the only patient he has... [Click here for more] left screwed up. Frezza did his best to make the last two years of my life a nightmare, and now I have to figure out how to get through it. But guess what, I will make it thru this, even with his incompetance I will get well, and get on to living my live. I havent given up ! If you need more info, please email me at JEWELOFTHEALB@AOL.COM
I HAD MY SURGERY ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO WITH DR. FREZZA. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT DISSAPOINTMENT AND PROBLEMS. DR. FREZZA WAS VERY NICE, UNTIL HE GOT THE INSURANCE MONEY, THEN IT WAS MY IMPRESSION THAT HE QUIT CARING ABOUT YOU AT ALL. ALSO, HE WONT RETURN CALLS., HIS STAFF WILL, BUT THEY ARE SNOTTY AND CONDESCENDING. ALSO, HE IS ALWAYS "OUT OF THE COUNTRY" WHEN YOU TRY TO CALL, AND "WILL GET BACK TO YOU" WHICH NEVER HAPPENS. AFTER MY FIRST FILL, MY PORT BECAME COMPLETELY INACCESSIBLE, AND THEY FOUND DURING THE CORRECTIVE SURGERY THAT IT WAS MISSING SOME OF THE NECESSARY STITCHES AND OTHERS HAD COME LOOSE. IN A YEAR I HAVE NOT LOST ANY WEIGHT, AND AM NOW UNDERGOING TESTING TO DETERMINE IF MY BAND IS LEAKING AS MY NEW SURGEON SUSPECTS THAT IT IS...THIS HAS BEEN A REALLY DIFFICULT, EXPENSIVE, AND FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE. WHEN I CALLED DR. FREZZA OFFICE, ABOUT THE PORT HAVING TURNED I WAS DESPERATE TO GET SOME HELP, WE HAD LOST OUR INSURANCE, AND THEY WOULD NOT EVEN CONSIDER HELPING ME, EVEN THOUGH THE PORT TURNED, RENDERING MY BAND USELESS IN ONLY 5 MONTHS AFTER SURGERY. FREZZA WANTED 6K TO CORRECT HIS MISTAKE...SAVE YOURSELF A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND RESEARACH YOUR SURGEON WELL AHEAD OF TIME.

My first impression of Dr. Frezza was that he was very knowledgable and honest. He gave me the risks involved and let me make my own decision. Although Dr. Frezza doesnt give warm fuzzies, his staff has been very helpful and supportive. When I went for my first check up after 20 days, he seemed rushed and I felt like I was taking up too much time with my silly questions. Although his bedside manner isnt what I would have cared for, I believe he is a good surgeon.
I recently went for my 3 month checkup. Once again, I left Dr. Frezza's office in near tears. My insurance company refused to pay for fills in the radiology department but would approve a fill in the office. Since my surgery, I have not had any fills. When I asked Dr. Frezza why he would not do a fill in the office,... [Click here for more] he sarcastically asked me how much I thought he made with an office visit. I said I didnt know and he rudely told me that he only makes $50 of which $30 goes to taxes, so he only ends up with $20 in his pocket. He said that if he performs them in radiology, he gets $800 and that is why he refuses to do them in his office. I told him that I was sorry to hear that, but what about all of his patients who needed a fill to make the surgery a success? He said, "It's not my problem. Once the surgery is done, it is out of my hands." He then walked out and said, "Dont be mad at me, its your insurance company who is letting you down."
Needless to say, I am changing to another Dr. in El Paso.
Although I have not received any official word that Dr. Frezza is leaving the practice, from what I understand thru hearsay, he is. I think its a good move on his part, being that he has no concern for the patients once the surgery has been done.

My first impression of Dr. Freeza was that of one who wants you to know this is a major decision and wanted me to take my decision serioiusly. He was upfront about the benefits of me getting the surgery and the possible complications. I felt I went into this with all my questions answered. I also felt like it was very important to Him that I follow his instructions to the T so that my chances of success were higher. I would rate Dr. Freeza overall as being great! I was satisfied with his bedside manner and especially with his surgical competence. The only thing I wish was that I saw him more post op while I was in intensive care. Posted on 05/23/2008 |

I had my first conseltation before Christmas..All my lab work was done and we waited forever for the sleep study to come back... and within 2-3 weeks of submitting all my paperwork my first surgery date was set. Then 1 week prior to surgery it got rescheduled because Dr. Freeza broke or sprained his arm/hand. And my insurance changed. But they worked hard with my new insurance and I had the surgery about 2 weeks after the original date. I compliment Dr. Freeza as he was so nice and professional. He has great bedside manner as did his team. Kudos Dr. Freeza...but this liquid diet is killing me LOL!! Posted on 04/27/2008 |

Dr. Frezza and I hit it off right away. I found him to genuinely care about the health issues as well as social and emotional issues of the his patients.
His office staff is always very professional and kind, but like most offices, seem to be a bit overwhelmed and not as dilgent as I would prefer in follow up contact. but honestly, that is true for every Dr. office I have dealt with. They are simply busy with many patients.
Dr. Frezza is extremely candid about your comittment and his to your "after care". The risks of surgery are reiterated several times. I have to say that his bedside manner is one of the best I have experienced, and my words cannot express how impressed I am with his competence and abilities.
As a footnote, I would like to add that there was a very small... [Click here for more] complication during my sugery...Dr. Frezza stayed with me in ICU and was extremely caring, and open with comunication with my husband and I. I could not ask for better care or a better Surgeon. I would readily recommend him.

URGENT !!! Anyone w/ info - I am going thru the pre-op tests to schedule my surgery w/ Dr Frezza to do either the lap band or the gastric sleave. In Saturday's Lubbock AJ paper under Official Records there was a lawsuit against Dr. Eldo Frezza for "other civil" by a group of people w/ the last name of Dunlap , particularly a Carl Wayne Dunlap (deceased). Does anyone know anything about this?
Also has anyone had the gastric sleave and can give me feedback on it vs. lap band? Posted on 03/10/2008 |

I met with Dr. Frezza to discuss my surgery. I was very impressed with him. He is very professional and up front about everything. We discussed my options and decided that the sleeve procedure would be the best for me. He even took into consideration the fact that I live in New Mexcio about 6 1/2 hours away and what I would need for follow ups with the different procedures. I am very excited about my decision of both the procedure and my surgeon. I feel that I have the best surgeon there is to perform this procedure. We went over all the concerns I had and I walked out of his office knowing that I was in great hands.
His office staff is always so friendly and helpul. I speak with Krista on the phone and she is always friendly and professional. I don't feel like I am just... [Click here for more] another number but as a person.
I would highly recommend Dr. Frezza for your bariatric surgery if you want the best. I researched him on the internet extensivly before ever meeting him after my family doctor recommended him.
I would suggest you research your surgeon extensivily as well. If you can make it to Lubbock you would be making a great choice with Dr. Frezza.

I have not seen my surgeon since my initial appointment with him in September 2005 and at that time he was very to the point, wich can be refreshing at times. I have had a few problems between his office and the insurance however. They had changes in staff which affected how promptly the insurance received information that they needed. Now I have a date and will let you know how surgery goes! Posted on 05/01/2007 |

I had lap band surgery in October by Dr. Frezza and 2 days later read a former patient from Stanley NM stating Dr. Frezza had abandoned her and somehow soley responsible for a post op infection she aquired. I have experienced extraordinary care by Dr. Frezza. In support of Dr. Frezza, I am compelled to respond to this woman's unfair and inappropriate slander. First folks, the privacy act prevents Dr. Frezza from telling his side of the story, so keep that in mind. I followed Dr. Frezza's orders to he "t" and had no problems what-so-ever and gaging by Ms. Stanley NM's photo, I am older than she. Perhaps she did not take care of herself and should take responsibility for at least part of her problem. I am compelled to write this because not only did this woman create undo anxiety... [Click here for more] in me two days out of surgery, she has in my opinion and experience of Dr. Frezza, she has been very unfair and defamous. If you are considering Dr. Frezza, meet him and decide for yourself. I'm glad I did.
