I was every impressed with my doctor when I first started my proceedure. I had some issues with the infections after my surgery but felt I needed a different kind of doctor to help me get rid of the infections and I chose a infectious desease specialtist and had good luck. When I went to Dr. Ihde's office he had just began practicing at Landcaster and his staff was only one or two at that time and they were very nice and concerning of my problems. I believe that the staff at the hospital needed more help in dealing with complications associated with my problems of infections. I didn't agree that my infection came from my dad's farm or my farm that doctor had relaid to me. Have had surgeries before without any of those complications. I think the procedure would have gone better if... [Click here for more] there were other staff members on the doctors program that had more training dealing with after surgery complications. My rating of Dr. Ihde is 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. I think this rating could change if he puts together a better staff to deal with problems that may arise from surgery. I did not use much after care because of feeling that I might not get the care, at Lancaster, that I needed to heal. Just wished I could loose all my weight that I wanted to. I would like to weight 185, but I'm not sure I can get there now.

Dr. Ihde is the man. He's very helpful, always talks on my level and draws pictures when necessary. I *love* that he wrote a book on this subject that he makes freely available to his patients and to other area doctors who are looking for information on bariatric surgery.
Dr. Ihde's staff (Stephanie - receptionist, Kim - Nurse) are the most wonderful people. There were weeks leading up to my surgery where I called them daily -- in fact sometimes several times a day. They helped me so much in figuring out how I was going to pay for my surgery. They helped me deal with my insurance company. They even yelled at them for me when Humana yanked the rug out from underneath me.
You see, at first Humana said they would pay 50% then three days before the original surgery date they went... [Click here for more] back on that saying that it was a mistake to have said they'd pay in the first place. Anyway, it's no matter, both Stephanie and Kim helped me figure out the financing -- which I finally secured through Capitol One.
Dr. Ihde also teams up with a psychologist, Merrill Littleberry LCSW,LCDC,CCM and a Nutrition Counselor, Lisa Badolato, RD, LD. Both of these wonderful women are very friendly and supportive, and they -- along with Dr. Ihde -- make themselves personally available to patients for questions and support. In fact, I called Dr. Ihde's personal number the night I came home from the hospital because I thought something was wrong, and I wanted to know if it was normal and what I should do. A very sleepy Dr. Ihde picked up the phone and answered my question. He also called me back the next day to see how things had gone.
Dr. Ihde is one of only six surgeons in the DFW area who perform RNY using a laparoscopic approach.
Dr. Ihde requires that all of his bariatric patients attend MIBU -- Minimally Invasive Bariatrics University -- a four hour session where you meet with Dr. Ihde for an hour, then with Merrill for an hour and then with Lisa for an hour and then again with Dr. Ihde for another hour. This marathon session is all about educating not only the patient but those whom the patient lives with -- since their lives will be affected by this surgery too. I brought both of my parents with me, and it was a great experience. The only thing I think I would like to have had at MIBU would perhaps been a chance to talk to a post-op patient. I guess I could have attended a support group in my pre-op state, but I didn't think of that.
I think the best thing I like about Dr. Ihde is how personable he is and his bedside manner. It also, helps that he's performed over 600 of these procedures, and I had complete confidence in him. He is great.

When I first met Dr. Ihde I was suprised how personal he was. He spent quite a bit of time one-on-one with me during my initial consult and then almost 4 hours with me during my pre-op appointment and nutritional counseling. His staff followed his lead and have always been friendly and professional, returning emails and calls quickly. Dr. Ihde is very thorough and provides a notebook full of info and a book to read. In the notebook are shopping lists and food logs as well as a prescribed walking program. He thoroughly explained the risks and even showed a powerpoint presentation to outline and show the details. I think Dr. Ihde is an excellent bariatric doctor. I qwould give him an A+. Both his surgical competence and bed-side manner were fantastic!
I understand that a 100%... [Click here for more] positive review may be unexpected and even suspect, but it is my honest opinion of my experience.

He made me feel really comfortable. He wrote a book to give patients information on RNY and after care. Wonderful office staff. Everyone is super friendly and they go out of their way to help you. He's only lost 2 patients doing this and they were high risk. Posted on 08/19/2007 |

My first impression was absoultly awe. Dr Ihde goes through everything with you explains it very well. Dr. Ihde is a awsome doctor he doesn't talk down to you . If anything he motivating. He is never negative, I can't is not in his vocabulary. Dr. Ihde's staff is awsome . Kim his nurse is very knowledgeable answered all my question . Even Dustin and Stephanie are helpful when they answer the phone . I don't think that I had one problem with Dr. Ihde or his staff. I researched this surgery for 3 years been to like 4 or 5 seminars but was not educated to this surgery until my first visit with Dr. Ihde. I was never nervous about choosing Dr. Ihde . He is just a awesome Doctor from knowledge to bedside. He made feel more like a friend than patient . There are after care programs avaiable... [Click here for more] after surgery also. Dr. Ihde is very upfront with the risk of surgery . My outlook to the risk went away because I was so comfrotable with Dr Ihde. I would rank Dr Ihde one of the best In Texas. He his the best in DFW metroplex. I am recommending Dr. Ihde to everyone I know .

I was very impressed with Dr. Ihde he is a very patient doctor. He did not rush me he answered all of my question and concerns. Since I had already that gastric surgery in 12/15/2003 I was there to see him for a revision. He took time to tell me the risk and of the surgery and that he would have to do a scope to find out what was going own. Dr Ihde and his staff are very nice people and if you have a question are a concern they will be more that happy to assist you any way that they can. Posted on 08/01/2006 |
