The first time I met Dr. Houston was at a wls seminar. I thought he was very knowledgeable about the different surgeries. Everything was explained in the seminar from the surgeries, risks of surgeries and importance of aftercare. He had a lot of experience to be so young looking. He explained everything again at my first office visit and I decided to have him do my surgery and I chose the vsg. He has always been very kind and caring. Anytime I've had questions he would always call me back personally and answer them. I had no complications, the surgery went great. His bedside manner was great as well. I am very pleased with Dr. Houston and I'm so happy I chose him. As for his office staff, there was only one I didn't care for because she was rude to me on more than one occasion... By the grace of God, overall I had a very positive experience. But keep in mind everyone is different and things can go wrong, so make sure to do your research before making a decision to have surgery.

Hello,
Dr. Hugh Houston was a great doctor, who displayed knowledge of his abilities. I picked him after attending one of his seminars in July of 2009. I was very pleased with the outcome of the surgery. My first visit with Dr. Houston was very informative. He wants to make sure you understand everything about the surgery you chose by getting charts out and explaining every detail to you. He don't beat around the bush on any questions. He's straight forward with his answers.
The office staff there is wonderful.
I can't say there's anything I don't like about Dr. H. He is a great doctor and surgeon. He has a good after care program and really emphasizes to his patients the necessity of doing it for years to come.

My first impression of Dr. Houston was very professional, yet personal and friendly.
His office is completely set up to make "us" feel comfortable and his staff is friendly and helpful.
I was very impressed with the hospital care and the after care. They definitely want you to succeed, and they have all the tools for us to do so.
The seminar is VERY informative, with all the pros and cons and the risks involving this surgery.
Then my first appointment with him one on one was not rushed, but patience and more information on the surgery, hospital stay and recovery and after care.

So far so good with Dr.Houston!!! He took the time to listen and explain the DS and why he chose to do them. He really seem to be interested in why you(the patient)came to the decison to have the DS. He really wants to make sure that he will be doing the DS on a person who understand the pros and con of the surgery itself. He also wants to be sure that you(the patient) are not being led into this surgery or misinformed. I am really happy with my choice for surgeon!! Posted on 04/18/2009 |

My first impression of Dr. Houston was at the seminar he gave at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN--I found him to be informative & a little cocky---both make a great surgeon, in my opinion...:). I had my first one-on-one meeting w/him and my husband & I left the meeting feeling like he would take care of me and do his job well. He took a great amount of time with in my pre-surgery appointment & very quickly made us feel comfortable. He was real & opened up to us about a lot of his views. We appreciated that. His office staff has been great so far. ONE MORE UPDATE: I have to tell everyone that on Monday (over 3 weeks before my surgery date), Dr. Houston called me on my cell phone to check in w/me and ask me if I had any questions. I was really impressed at the fact that... [Click here for more] he called and he was great at answering all my questions (and I had quite a few!) and made me, again, feel completely confident in his abilities & my choice!
MARCH 17, 2009: I had my surgery & I am alive & well to type this...kudos to Dr. H!
