I just love Dr. Aranow - I just had my first fill. He was so nice and understanding about my nervousness - put me totally at ease. Of course he was right, nothing to it! Posted on 11/03/2008 |

WOW! I didn't have Collin as my surgeon for my RNY as I live in CT. but I do know him!!! Back in the early 90's he was a trauma surgeon at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ, where I worked for 4 years as an RN in the Trauma Unit. He left and I never knew what happened to him! He was pretty much the favorite of all the nurses because he was kind, competent, caring, soft-spoken (love his accent!), a great surgeon, just an all-around nice guy. If I had known this is where he ended up, I may have made the trek to come to him instead, although I do love my surgeon and he did a great job.
If any of you see Collin soon, tell him Heidi from Cooper says HI! I am glad he found his niche. All you people made a good choice. He is great. Posted on 11/03/2008 |

I chose the office because it felt like a team. The nutritionist, counselor, and surgeon all played a big part in helping me get ready. His follow up visits have felt brief, but it might be because I was doing well. I am only in the beginning stages of the recovery process. I am very focused on the steps I need to take and am willing to do what I have to be part of a team approach. Posted on 10/26/2008 |

Dr. Aranow has a busy comprehensive practice. He is knowledgeable and professional, and his information session is great. The care I have received both pre-op and post-op has been excellent; the only complaint I have is that there are a lot of appointments and the office is almost always running late, and I have had to wait -- sometimes hours -- for scheduled appointments. I am very glad I had the surgery with Dr. Aranow, and Middlesex Hospital was top-notch. Posted on 10/13/2008 |

IMPORTANT: I was previously in pre-op with Dr. Carlos Barba (St. Francis, Hartford). Events that have come to light regarding his business practices have made my change my decision. I am now in the process of contacting Dr. Aranow's office in Middletown. Posted on 07/11/2008 |

My first impression of DR. Aranow was that he was very knowledgable about what he does as a bariatric surgeon, this was at the seminar about the gastric banding and bypass. My first meeting with him in his office was, well a little surprising from the last time. He seemed to be overly sure of himself but he did know what the patient needed. Cocky one minute, professional the next. The day I was having my surgey I asked him a question about the gastric bypass. I said my other Dr told me something and I asked if it were true. He stated "no he's stupid", then lightly appologized after reading my chart and then said I'll see ya in the operating room. Did I want this man operating on me after he insulted my other Dr? Probably not but I was so set on having this surgery that was... [Click here for more] going to help change my life for the better, I pretty much had to brush that off after looking at my husband and asking him "did he just say what I thought he said? Yep! After surgery it was short brief visits at the hospital. Nothing more. His office staff were and still are great! Helpful and concerned. I least like about him would be, needing to be right all of the time because as he has stated to me many times "it's not my fault this has never happened to me before". Future patients should know "EVERYONE" makes mistakes no matter who you are or what you do proffesionally or personally. Going to see him for follow ups were much better! Recently, He will come in, read my chart, talks to me and finds out what my needs are and where are we going from here. How am I doing? etc. After care is a must, not big on telling me to go to the support groups right now. Who knows anymore, now he comes into the room says HI, then plugs in his laptop and begins typing. I might get a word in or two. If I interupt him he gets a little "out of place". He did go over the risks of the surgery but wanted to make sure I was ok with my being sober and drug free for 4 years at that time. Wich I thought was good being that eating is an addiction too. How would I rate him overall? That's pretty hard to say right now. I'm going through some medical issues with him from possibly the surgery. I have gallstones and well, I can't figure why he needs to do exploratory surgery for that. So my rating, if it were to be 1 out of 10 I would probably give him a 5 right now. We'll see what happens later. I'm not sure which is better, his surgical competance, his bedside manner or both are great? I can't answer that right now.

When I first met Doc Aranow I knew that he had it going on. Either that or he talked a good game. From the start I enjoyed his personality and found him to knowledgable and thoughtful. I have done my research and do not need to check into any other docs, I like him. This is all I have for now, my personal visit is coming up next week. Posted on 05/05/2008 |

Doctor Aranow is always professional and confident, every time I meet with him he is the same and very informative. The office staff is helpful and always ready to answer your questions. I have not had any problems with the doctor ar his staff. Any post surgical care that I have had in the 6 months since my day of surgery has been excellent. Having a dietitian on staff helps a great deal and they are always available in needed. Doctor Aranow was information before the surgery and explained the risks at length during the seminar and before I was escorted into the operating room. I would rate him as the best in the state of Connecticut and his program is A+. The only cpmplaint I have was the last day in the hospital and nursing staff was either to short handed or just forgetful. Posted on 02/17/2008 |
