I thought he was very nice, cordial, but he did not really spend a lot of time with me. I reviewed my chart and said "lets do it". I was excited he thought I would qualify for the surgery, but he left the room and now I am scheduled for surgery. He did ask if I had any questions and if I had concidered the lap band and he was thourough, but quick. Posted on 10/09/2008 |

I highly recommend Dr. Miles as a surgeon and a WLS doctor (pre-op and Post). I like his matter-of-fact style - that really works for me. He is very honest and will spend all the time you need. His staff is wonderful. I saw his nurse practitioner this week when I went for my 1-week post op visit. She was in the surgery - but, of course, I don't remember her at all! She was really great also. Veronica, his Bariatric Coordinator, is great. She had gastric bypass surgery years ago and is a true inspiration. She has such a good attitude about life that is makes me see that I, too, can suceed at this! Great staff, great doctor. Posted on 06/18/2007 |

My first impression of Dr.Miles was that he was straight to the point and honest. My impression has not changed, he is so gosh darn thorough. Neomi has been wonderful. I would much rather have a competent Dr. Posted on 04/05/2007 |

At first Dr. Miles came across as very brusque and I got the impression that his biggest concern was whether or not I was going to blow his success rate. However, by my last visit just before surgery, I had grown to like him. I must have caught him on a bad day the first time.
I chose his program at Medical Center East because it is so comprehensive. There is a support group, nutrional counseling, and all sorts of other services. They're very thorough with the pre-op process and if you don't meet the requirements (including pre-op weight loss) they will cancel your surgery. By the time I was wheeled into the operating room, I KNEW what I was getting myself into.
I came through the surgery with no complications whatsoever and his overall mortality rate is VERY low,... [Click here for more] much lower than the national average.
My only complaint is that I saw Dr. Miles just before I went under for the actual surgery and didn't see him again until my second year post-op check. Every visit between the those times was with his nurse practioners. Don't get me wrong, they're wonderful, but it would have been nice to actually see my surgeon. When I did see him, he was honestly happy for me and asked for before and after photos, which I happily sent to him.

Dr. Miles seems very down-to-earth, and is easy to talk to. He answered my questions fully, and gave explanations in terms that weren't over my head, yet he didn't talk down to me. He fully explained the risks of surgery, but he was very upbeat, and confident, which was very reassuring. Posted on 10/11/2006 |

Haven't had surgery yet but so far he is very understanding and know what we are going thru in the first place.. Not like must doctors that lecture you aboutbeing fat he really knows that some times you just can't help that we are obese. He and his whole staff are great and are very willing to work with you Posted on 08/28/2006 |

I met Dr. Miles at the WLS Seminar and he was very nice including the staff that scheduled my initial consultation. My consultation went very well. The only concern I am having is that I have called everyday this week to see if they have received my clearance letter from my PCP, last 3 year medical records, any additional information needed. Everytime I call or email the person handling the information for the office, the response is "Nothing received" or I receive no response at all and never a callback. I called my GI physician, Urologist, and PCP, who all stated that they faxed documents to the office, and will send me confirmation that fax went through successfully. I know that I was told on the day of my consultation that the assistant who handles the process to submit to... [Click here for more] the insurance company will be leaving this month, so someone will be taking her place. I don't know what has or hasn't been received, so I guess if I haven't heard anything within the next two weeks, I will callback again.

I first met Dr. Miles at a WLS seminar that he requores you to attend. He was very informative about the surgery,he went over the procedure with a fine tooth comb,so much so that when it came time for my consultation with him, there was nothing really left to ask.He really went over complications with me to make sure I understood what I was getting into.
