When I first met Dr. Kurian I was extremely nervous. She kept rubbing my back and telling me that everything would be okay. She is so nurturing. She just made me feel really comfortable and at ease. Besides her expertise in bariatric surgery, she adds a personal touch to all of her cases. I would definitely recommend her to any one. Posted on 05/15/2008 |

My first impression of Dr. Kurian was wow she is young. (lol) Off the back I liked her. When she first meet me she told me wow look at that big smile you have. She sat down with me and my mother and told us everything we needed to know about the surgery. She even asked personal questions to get to know what type of person I was. She was very genuine and treated me more than just another patient. On the day of surgery she came in my prep room and chatted with my family and I. We spoke about cruises and places wev'e traveled to before. We laughed and shared each other stories. You would think that I was not about to have surgery any minute. When I first went to the center I had three doctors to pick from. I ask the receptionist which one had the closest date and she told... [Click here for more] me Dr. Kurian, so I decided to go with her. My mom wanted me to go with the most popular surgeon but I told her all three surgeons were good. I had a gut feeling about Dr. Kurian and even though I had to reschedule my surgery and had the opportunity to pick a different surgeon and decided to stick with Dr. Kurian again. I just knew she was the right person for the job and I was right. She is wonderful and I have no regrets picking her or doing the surgery. Thanks Dr. Kurian. You’re the Best!!!
P.S. The only problem I had at NYUMC was the coordinator NILSA. That woman is the worst and I plan on writing a long letter about her horriable service. She is the worst and needs to learn how to do her job better.

I always felt Dr. Kurian was completely professional and really down-to-Earth. She continued to prove herself to be very confident and very caring. On the day of surgery she gave me a hug and words of encouragement. She held my hand when the iv was going and made sure I stayed laughing. The entire surgical staff was amazing. Everyone was warm and put me completely at ease. I have not been in the office very much, but I have interacted with Tammy (patient advisor) and Johanna (surgical coordinator) who have both been very sweet and extremely helpful. I do wish I had more interaction with the offfice, but I am still glad I chose this group! I will see Dr. Kurian next week for my follow up. I am very excited about my journey. She is the best! my surgeon was great, great, great!!!
She was so kind , nurturing and so understanding of my anxiety pre-op. I was very nervous about anesthesia but she held my hand as they started my iv and until I went to sleep. She then came to see me in the evening and again before discharge. I cant say enough good things about her. Posted on 03/26/2008 |

I'm now three days out from surgery and Dr. Kurian was fantastic. She's very sweet, incredibly brilliant and completely competent (and totally hot!). I'm so glad I switched to her from another hospital/surgeon and I completely trust her to lead me down this new path. Posted on 02/07/2008 |

Well,I can say I completely love Dr. Kurian! I was gonna go with a diferent surgeon, but I really wanted dr. Kurian to do my surgery, cause I have heard lots of great things about her. I gotten approved the insurance she accepted so I was able to have her do my surgery. She was alittle worried to do my surgery first only because I was having bad dreams and was real scared, but she did make me feel at ease and I just went with it and had the surgery and I was fine I healed real quick very little pain,I was in more pain with my c-sections,lol. But yeah I am currently almost 8 weeks out and lost 54 pounds, wow amazing huh. But,She is very kind and funny and she knows her stuff! So,I recomend her to anyone who wants to get a gastric bypass,or lap band! She is a 10! Posted on 01/10/2008 |

At first I have to say I was afraid to meet with her, but she made me feel so comfortable from her smile when she first walked through the door. My impression of Dr. Kurian only got better with time. I needed to loose a little weight before I had WLS, and there was a time when I lost most but gained a couple of pounds back I was so hard on myself I was sitting in the office crying and she just hugged me and told me things will be okay. The staff as a whole was always kind and considerate to everyone's feelings. They always made sure you was comfortable. Any future patients of hers should know she is kind hearted and very easy to speak to so don't be afraid to let her know exactly what you are feeling and thinking. Dr. Kurian has several things she feels you should do after WLS,... [Click here for more] to the point she will call and check up on you. She speaks on all the risks that could happen during surgery, however at the same time you feel as if this needs to be done. I would rate her 100+++. Her surgical competence and bedside manner are both beyond great.
